     For my parents' 65th anniversary, I waited until after the event, got one of the best photos of them along with all of us 6 kids, then took it to the local photo shop and had the photo put on a handbag for my mom and the back of a jacket for my dad. They loved it!! They didn't want more "stuff" and enjoy walking around town and the mall showing people their family. For their 60th, we all chipped in and bought them a big TV. The grandchildren were asked not to buy gifts. If you have time, though, you cuold get a lovely scrapbook and get photos of every single grandchild and make them a brag-book!

     Here in the states, florist shops sell them--if you have a pay-pal account or a credit card, you can access an awful lot of reputable companies, such as party planner-type companies, who would be more than willing to ship them to you! In fact, I could hook you up in my hometown here in Arizona. Go to eBay and contact 'azmegs'-just tell me whether you need them pre-aired(ship will be expensive,due to package size!), how many you want, if you want them personalized, what type(foil,with plastic sticks or with ribbon,rubber), what colors and approx. size that you would like and I will email you some different contacts and specifics. You can pick your pictures to put on them, lettering styles, etc. I have all of that info from when my friend had a custom balloon business!!Go over the top without thinking of the cost because that will allow me to get the absolute best pricing info for you and you can narrow down to fit budget afterwards! Basically, I do know that the few shops in my town are not very pricey, and one in particular is AMAZING in both price and quality and customer service!!      Occasionally they become available in garden centres but its best to go directly to a specialist rose grower, there will be many on the net. I have 1 called Moonlight, it is not completely thornless, it does have a few but not a great deal' it's quite hard to keep but its well worth the effort as the flower is beautiful.     My mom and Dad who are almost 90 years old will soon be celebrating their 60th anniversary. Besides getting the family together from all parts of the globe, what can we do that won't be too tiring? we want it to be special.

      I don't know if this helps, but the traditional wedding present for 60th anniversary is Diamond. Since diamonds are expensive, and at almost 90 years old they probably do not need knick-knacks, get crafty.

      For my parents 40th anniversary party we did a photo power point presentation. I went and "hijacked" my parents slides and a few photo albums from the storage in their garage. I then spent a few weeks collecting pictures of family, friends, pets, houses, vacations, etc.; through the 40 year span. I made sure that there was at least one picture of all the guests who would be in attendance. It was a true highlight of the party! Even the guests were extrememly surprised when pictures of themselves popped up. It was great to see how we had all changed over the years.       If you do not know how to do power point presentations, go to the younger kids. My stepdaughter did the presentation for her "Grandparents". We saved the money of having to pay to have someone do it for us. It also helped my stepdaughter, who could not think of what to give them for their anniversary. She gave her time and effort, and they truly appreciated the gift she made.

      We also had asked the people who could not attend the party to send cards with special messages. This way our parents knew who was invited, but were unable to attend, and knew they were special to them.

      Is the party is indoors or outdoors? At a residence? If at a residence, you don't have to do much decor. 60th Wedding Anniversary is a nice laid back atmosphere. I would definitely skip all the paper decorations such as color streamers and party hats if you know what I mean. It will save plenty of money, and more than likely it'll be thrown away when the party is over. It's a much older group and you really want to keep it simple. Some nice Floral/Fruit Centerpieces works great, you can get silk flowers of all colors at a very low cost at Michael's, fresh whole fruit is reasonable, and find really low cost vases or baskets to place them in from a discount store - and they are nice to keep, so your money will be well spent. Find out what they like and incorporate that into the centerpieces. You can also put some old time candies on the table too and use those for decoration as well. Add some nice music - that they like, and good food of course. It'll be memorable experience.

That should work out fine. I think the whole rule of what to get on anniversary's is just for the couple. It would still be really fun to get that pic done.

      Your time. Spend time with them. Ask them what they had planned before they met. Ask them about how they met, how he proposed, when they knew he/she was the one, when they fell in love, what it was like when they first got married, after their first child. Did they struggle financially early on? What did they do for their first anniversary? Etc. Then write it all down like a journal and present it to them on the day. Illustrate it with photos, old ones and new ones you can take while they are telling you about their history. Audio record or video record your time with them. Find out who they were and how they got to be who they are today. For that matter, find out who they are today. I'll bet no one in your family knows. Make copies of the journal for each of their children's families.
      It'll be original and remembered.

      Sixtieth Anniversary gifts should have something to do with diamonds. For my grandparents 60th my Mum made a quilt with 60 diamonds in it which she got the family to sign. It was really nice and something they could use as a knee rug or even to hang up for display. I'm sure you will find something lovely for them.

    When I look for cards and gift ideas for them alot of things seem to stop at '50th' anniversary - I cant buy them anything like a day trip out anywhere, Because my Grandad has Alzheimer's, and with that he cant 'behave' himself properly. (what I mean by that is he is very inappropriate at times, ie, Blowing his nose into napkins and staring at the contents while sat in the middle of posh restaurants) I cant even say they have had a 'loving 60 years of marriage' My nan gets seriously depressed about having to look after him, and she gets annoyed at his dirty habits which are mainly caused by his Alzheimer's. I cant get them something like a photo frame or album filled with pictures of all the family and friends over the years as my mum got my nan a digital photo frame with all those sorts of pictures on for her 80th birthday earlier this year...I cant afford to pay for them to go on Holiday together, not that they would like that anyway as neither of them can walk much due to arthritis. And a party is out of the question as they only have very very few friends and we have a small family, plus neither of them like party atmosphere's..

    Its just the two of them, If it helps anyone think of anything they are currently in the process of moving home. They have lived in their bungalow in Crewe for the last 57years, and are moving 80miles away to live in the same town as my mum and dad and me, as my nan feel's she is missing out on my son growing up and I have another baby due in 10weeks and she doesnt want to miss her growing up too! She is renting when she moves here as her house hasnt sold yet so I cant even pay for anything in the house to be done for them. And she is having to get rid of loads of ornaments and things as she has more of them than she has space to store them!!

      You never know what might trigger a person's memory when they have alzheimers. It's simple to piece together a simple quilt the size of a throw. You can get photos from over the years, get them into your computer and print them out on inkjet fabric made for this purpose. It doesn't take alot of expertise and anyone who knows how to sew would be able to assist you with the project. Another great idea is your local pottery shop where they let you design and glaze your own earthen ware. That way you could put whatever year anniversary it is right on it. If you are not that crafty then you could pick up one of those conversation books where it asks them to fill in different questions about their lives and family history, then it could be a keepsake for your son too. Another nice idea would be to have a family member or friend or someone you can find in the phone book who plays the harp or other musical instrument to come to their home to entertain them for an hour or two. Harp music can be an amazing encouragement and is very relaxing. If you give the instrumentalist an idea of the kinds of songs and music they enjoy - then that might even trigger sweet memories as well.

      use one of their wedding photos for all types of stuff for the party- have it on the invites, make posters of it to hang in the party room or on the entrance door, get a picture cake made with it on there, make bookmarks as party favors and put the picture and party info on it and tie a tassel on them, and you can incorporate it into centerpieces as well.
      make a picture board of pics of them through out their lives together- or a DVD picture slide show
      play music from their hay days- stuff from when they were married, 1940s music obviously- maybe you can burn CDs of the same music for another party favor and make a cover with their wedding picture on it also

      I don't know how much you can afford but how about getting 60 £1 coins (1 for every year of marriage) and then getting them framed with a nice little plaque on the bottom! I think that's a really nice idea and unique!

      If you have a big house, I say have it at your house because it makes it more personal. 25 people is a lot so if your house is small or you want something a little more formal, rent a hall. If you want something easy and laid back, go out to dinner. Ask your grandparents which one they prefer. As for me, I would go with renting the hall. Diamonds are associated with the 60th wedding anniversary so try to play off of that. Make them a CD of all the popular songs of 1947 or a CD of their favorite songs. If you can maybe even for dinner fix what they had at their wedding. Whatever you do just make sure you include your grandparents in the final decisions. Good luck.

      I love the idea of the photo - except I would trim in tea stained lace - and gold cording to frame the photo. The matting of the photo should be frayed - Sounds like a beautiful card to me. For my parents 60th anniversary - I got a copy of their marriage from the church. We made 200 copies and rolled them up and tied them with a rose colored ribbon. If you could get a copy of their marriage license, how neat that would be to have on the inside of the card.
      Our copies were favors for family and friends.

    One sister has gone and told mom what we were planning, and mom doesn't want what we are planning. She has gone as far as telling us who to invite, and that she wants to get dressed up and go to an upscale restaurant.     Im throwing a party for my grandparents who are celebrating 60 years of marriage. Im making my grandma a sash for the party, but don't know what it should say.

    It is an oscar Academy award sash. For example they usually say 'best dressed female 2011' or 'best county artist 2011'.... but i would like hers to say something like 'best wife 2011' ??? I want it to sound cool not dumb.
