      The national flower of Greece is the Olive (according to Wikipedia). I've never seen an olive tree in blossom: but that's no reason to dismiss the Olive Blossom as a possibilty.

      To go for a 'Grecian' style I'd be looking at plaited dark green leaves interspersed with your favourite colour flowers.

    Earthy Meets Grecian/Roman Wedding Ideas?
    I am getting married in May and we have decided on a Earthy hippie meets Mount Olympus elegance theme wedding. Neither of us is Greek, we are both just huge history buffs and love the culture and mythology. So I'm not necessarily looking for cultural wedding customs, more along the lines of ideas for center pieces, common colors and patterns, bridesmaid dresses, anything to get my wheels turning!       This one has that same one-shoulder style too. And it has a little more of a natural elegance than the last one -- which it sounds like you might prefer, since you're going for the earthier look.

      As for colors, I'd go with deep blue and ivory/champagne for a Grecian theme -- maybe with some highlights of purple and green. If you wanted to highlight the "earthy" side of the wedding more, perhaps you could make the main colors a rustic green and ivory/champagne or even a deeper neutral like chocolate brown.

      For centerpieces, I would recommend pretty painted pottery vases overflowing with ivy and a few flowers. This might be really expensive, though, as pottery isn't cheap....but you might be able to rent them from somewhere. If it's too expensive to get traditional pottery, it might be neat to get more "modern" vases in just a frosted blue. It would still echo the Grecian theme, but would be easier to find and less expensive.

      I think it will be fine, it sounds similar to something I saw a woman wearing at a wedding I was at. Maybe a little jacket would be good to have if it is revealing, or the event is formal.

    Some questions about the wedding dress?
    It's going to be an early summer wedding, outside and near a lake. My waist is 26 inches, bra size is a 34B, and I've got some hip to me. I'm thinking of wearing a grecian-draped dress that reaches the floor but has no train and flat shoes (as I'm 5'11). But then I'm also thinking about a more theatrical-looking, intricate gown. Either way I'm wearing flowers in my hair in place of a veil or tiara.

    So as far as the dress goes---

    Given my body type, does it matter what shape my dress is? If so, what do you think would work best for me?

    Should I do it all white with colored accents, have the first layer of fabric white with a colored layer draped over it, stick with a white dress, or do it completely in color?

    Furthermore, if I am to do a color, should I do an emerald green or a pastel purple?

      If it's a very traditional wedding and you would want to wear that to church it's probably not the best choice.
      But it just depends on what the wedding is going to be like and what the bride and groom are like. To some weddings this might be ok to wear.

      Your gown choices are all beautiful, but one and two make my heart sing. Lovely taste!

      Twinkle lights aren't bad, but are a bit passe, real event lighting will work much better for your theme. If you have a really good DJ with lots of equipment, they can often handle this for you. Some intelligent uplights and gobos will be much better than twinkle lights. Try to hold this in a dramatic venue, even a planetarium if you can.

      Look at lighted centerpieces too, like cylinder vases filled with LEDs, they are amazing in low-light conditions.

      Given that you have chosen a warm colored flower, I would stick with warm hued colors in your attire and decoration choices. This will work very well for you in the summer since so many beautiful flowers in warm colors will be readily available!

      Smoky gray is a cool tone. When presented next to your orange flowers, the gray will mute the sunny joyfulness that the lilies present. Your ivory choice would be much better. I think you could take the color a little further by choosing bridesmaid dresses with a hint of warm color in them - peach, warm pink, etc., This way they will still be wearing light dresses, but they will clearly be different from your dress. You are the star, after all!
