Mens Wedding Rings

Many men that seek for mens wedding rings thinks that they only have two options, which is a white gold and a yellow gold ring. This condition can happen because many local jewelry stores only sell gold ring.

While women think that buying a wedding ring is a fun thing to do, but many men think in contrary. The jeweler usually decorated their store with bright light and a lot of glass to attract attention the customer and enhance the beauty of the jewelry that they sell. However, that method usually is not work for men. Men usually says that all the mens wedding rings that offered to him is nice, not because they like the ring, but because they want to finish this job as soon as possible.

I am looking for a mens wedding ring size 8.5 or 8. I have been lookin on ebay and found some good ones but want to know if there is any other web sites out there that are better or cheaper!!! :) I am looking for a silver and black either TUNGSTEN or STAINLESS STEEL! I would prefer one with a diamond/CZ. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Have you done your research on tungsten? It's a pretty dangerous ring to wear.
I was told by jewelers that if his hand was smashed or hurt the ring has to be frozen and hammered off IF you get to the ER in time before your finger swells too much. I just ordered one off ebay for my soon to be husband. he picked it out and it's the exact same ring they sell at Gordon's Jewelers but i got it for around instead of .
He got Titanium. It basically has to be cut in two places and removed because it too is strong but not nearly as strong as tungsten. Also, titanium is almost weightless and my fiance liked the feel of it.
I would get the stainless before i'd get tungsten. My fiance absolutely didn't like the thought of maybe losing his finger because of a wedding band not being able to be cut off in any way.
oh.. and walmart also sells men's bands as well as limogesjewelry.com (which i have ordered from numerous times and always have great service/products)

  5. QUESTION:
Mens Wedding Rings. What options do I have?
Hello all and thanks for reading, I need all the help I can get!

My future husband and I went looking for wedding rings for the both of us the other day. However we came across a problem. . He broke his ring finger about three years ago. So his knuckle is a size 12 but his actual finger behind the knuckle is a size 9. If we get a size 11 and squeeze it on, then its still gonna be super big once its over the knuckle, and im worried he might catch it on something at work and then hurt himself. The jeweler said a "ring guard" wont work on a plain band.

    Im at a loss.
    Can someone please help.

By the way. He's really set on the fact that he doesn't wanna wear his wedding ring on another finger. He just wants to know if he has any other options.

    Thanks!!

What material is best for mens wedding bands?
What material is better to go with for a mens wedding ring. Tungsten carbide or stainless steel. We need it to be very scratch resistant!

    • ANSWER:
Definitely tungsten. My husband and I got tungsten wedding bands from http://www.larsonjewelers.com/ and they are amazing. We've had them for a few years now and we have not had a single scratch. Our forks and spoons are made from stainless steel and they are more scratched up than our rings.

  9. QUESTION:
Womens and mens wedding rings? Why?
I work in a jewelry store. The average budget a man will come with who's looking for an engagement ring is between 00-00. Obviously some may not have that much, and other will have more, but that's about the usual numbers I see men wanting to spend. Then a while later, in comes wife to be looking for a wedding band for him. It's not like they're looking for plain bands most of the time either, they want to find him one with diamonds too. The average womens budget to spend on her future husband wedding band is between 0 and 0. When it comes to her wedding band, usually the budget is between 00-1500. It's always baffled me how many women expect a man to drop a great deal of money on her wedding set, but doesn't want to spend a fraction of what hers cost on his band. Obviously, this isn't all couples, but it seems to be the case with the vast majority I help at least. Why do men get the short end of the stick when it domes to the wedding band most of the time?
One more thing, I'm a woman, and I still notice how much men get shorted. When I was getting married, I knew my husband spent a good amount (never cared to know the exact number, it doesn't matter to me) on my wedding set. When I was looking for his band, I fully expected to pay a good amount for his, so he could be be proud of his wedding band too. I ended up buying him a nice, heavy platinum and diamond band for 00. I don't think it was quite as much as my set, but for him, anything that cost more would've been to "blingy" for his liking.
I'm not talking about couples who want plain bands or have lower budgets period. I'm more talking about the guys who come in, drop ,000 on the engagement ring, 00 on her wedding band, and when he tries one on HE likes for 00 or 00, she turns around and says "o, our budget for your band is only 0". Some men do like a little heavier bands or ones with a couple diamonds. It's those kind of scenarios where b2b doesn't want to spend the money on what he likes, even though it's ok to spend a ton on hers that I'm talking about. It happens more often than you think.

    • ANSWER:
I know my beer drinking, sports watching, fishing, engine building, handy man wouldnt want a 00 ring. Then again, niether do I....

I told him I didnt even need an engagement ring. I would be happy to wait for the wedding ring (plain is fine on that front too). He opted for a beautiful diamond solitare that is perfect for me!

However, I understand you are talking averages here. And simply put, us women are spoiled and want to one-up our bff that got engaged a month before us. And not many men want much more than a simple band.

  12. QUESTION:
For mens engagement/wedding rings???? PLEASE HELP?
ok so im totally stupid when it comes to weddings... lol
do men get 2 different rings an engagement ring and a wedding ring or do u just use the same ring for both and if u get 2 different ones which is which? like one with diamonds and then one just regular plain band with nothing special??? im sooo confused please help

    • ANSWER:
Unlike some people seem to think on here, some people do choose to get their male partners engagement rings. My FMIL got one for her husband when they were engaged. I think the thing to remember is that they're not common. As such, I think you could do whatever you and your other half want, if he wants an engagement ring then get one! One thing I would point out though is that the wedding band is generally only worn after the wedding, not throughout the engagement.

      Hope this helps!

  13. QUESTION:
Is there a place where you can buy the mens and womens wedding rings as a set?
I want our rings to somewhat match. Does anybody know a place where I can find them?

    • ANSWER:
most jewelry stores have matching bridal sets that include a band for the man. You can also buy the rings separately with the same pattern. I would go online and search for "wedding ring sets" or "bridal ring sets" and see what's out there. Be ready , believe it or not, men's wedding bands are expensive.. good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding.. dont get stressed out.. marriage is wonderful

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a mens wedding ring, we are looking to spend between 5-10 grand and as far as stones go we want diamonds we have been together for 4 year, he wears mainly black and brown white rarely. My engagement ring is a 3 carat center stone 3 stone setting with 1 carat on each side. I would not like to buy online but rather a reputable store, any suggestions. And having the diamonds on his ring is non negotiable.

    • ANSWER:
Wow...that is a LOT to spend on a mens ring. So whatever you get I'm sure is going to be nice!

I bought my ring from Roger's Jewelry. I'm sure they are located in a lot of places. My husband picked out 3 rings he likes, and I went back and picked the one I like the best. So he got something he would like but was still surprised!

Platinum is probably something you can get with that money! It is probably the most expensive metal. Tungsten is also good, popular and strong! The jeweler should give you more information about it.

As for diamonds, ever though about black diamonds? I have been seeing a lot lately and love the look! But if he wants regular diamonds, then get him regular!

Best metal for a mens wedding ring?
What do you think is the best metal for a mens wedding ring/band? Gold, white or yellow, platinum, titanium or tungsten.
Also, i was wondering is a tungsten band just cheaper than all the rest of them? Because i rarely hear of it

    • ANSWER:
tungsten is rather pricey, unless you shop on ebay (like i am doing)
titanium is not as expensive as tungsten. and stainless is less than titanium, generally.
as for the golds... that's a matter of personal preference as to which color you want.
tungsten and titanium are harder metals and not so prone to damage and losing shape.

i'm getting my fiance a tungsten band because he does security work and is a vol fire fighter- he needs something durable and sturdy. tungsten won't scratch, dent, ding or lose shape!

  23. QUESTION:
Mens wedding ring, what is the deal?
Do they not wear a ring until they are married? Who buys it? Do they buy it for themself?

    • ANSWER:
Traditionally men don't wear a ring until they're given one in the ceremony. But since this is 2010 it's not something that's set in stone. I know of a few guys who have engagement rings, for most of them they'll just use the ring as a wedding band as well but one or two won't. And some men don't really wear rings even after the wedding because of safety concerns with their jobs.

Who buys it depends on the couple. If the bride can afford it then usually she buys the ring but if she can't afford it then there's nothing wrong with the groom buying it or with either set of parents helping them out.

It's usually best to get your man's input on what type of ring he wants, men are far more fussy about jewelery than they like women to believe. And since he'll be wearing this one (usually) 24/7 it should be a ring that he likes and is comfortable wearing.

  24. QUESTION:
5mm or 6mm wedding band for mens wedding ring?
I have kinda small hands, wearing a size 8, never worn a ring before and want something small. What is the normal size for men these days? thanks
Getting a tungsten ring for the durablity. More interested in the width of the ring not necessarily the size.

    • ANSWER:
With a pretty thin finger, you might want to go with a 5 mm band. If it's just a plain band, you might even consider a 4mm band. Even if you're going to buy online, go to a jeweler and try some on to see what you like.

Looking for unique wedding bands in Vancouver area?
Looking for a womens and mens wedding rings, wanting something different, unique, special. Any store or artist in the Vancouver BC area that has what we are looking for. Gold, or even stone carved rings. Thank you for your help :0)

    • ANSWER:
Yes! I can help you (fellow Vancouverite here).

Did you go to the Wedding Fair at the convention centre in January? There was this company there that makes wedding bands. They take a professional picture of your engagement ring then design a band to match...... or, they can just totally create something new just for you.

They do it all on the computer too, with laser technology its pretty cool. Here is their address:

      Jewellery Artists 3D
      4485 West 10th Avenue
      Vancouver, BC , V6R 2H8
      604-222-8821

Not sure about stone-carved, but I think you'd have to hit up some local art shops or maybe even some native craft shop and see if perhaps their artist can get in touch with you to design something (but I think that might be more out of whale bone then stone).

      Happy wedding planning :)

  31. QUESTION:
How much money could I get for a 10k gold wedding ring?
I have a 10k gold mens wedding ring.. 1. Should I sell it at a jeweler or a pawn shop. 2. How much would I get for it ? Thanks !

    • ANSWER:
I recently received from selling a 14k gold ring to a jewelry store. Depending on the store and current gold prices you may receive a better deal; shop around.
They pay you based on pennyweight, which is currently worth about each in PURE gold, it's going to be a lot less than that since 10k contains less than 50% gold.

  32. QUESTION:
    Mens Wedding Ring Help?
Ok, my fiance and I are going to purchase my ring after work today but I am torn between 2 different ones. One is a very nice white gold. The other is a tungsten band. I like them both for many reasons.

    White Gold
It looks much fancier and is very shiny. I have lighter colored skin and it matches my hand. Gold is easy to work with, it can be re-sized if my hand gets bigger. But, the color will fade so it does require some maintenance.

    Tungsten
Much stronger metal that cant scratch. This ring stands out more and is darker than the white gold. The ring is cheaper. But cant be re-sized and I have heard rumors that if the ring needs to be removed in an emergency, it cant be cut off. I have read websites that say this isn't true, but have heard from a lot of people that say it cant be removed.

I really like both rings, so I just need to decide which to go with.

Also, is there a difference between tungsten and tungsten carbide? or are they the same thing???

Any help would be appreciated : )
Also the tungsten ring is wider than the white gold. I could get the larger white gold, but it doesnt look right on my hand.

    • ANSWER:
First of all, the thing about not being able to cut off a tungsten ring in an emergency is a myth. Think about it- EMTs have to cut through entire cars to get people out- do you really think they don't have a tool out there that can cut through tungsten? My friend is a registered nurse and says that it's a bunch of hooey. I know because I asked her specifically before purchasing my fiance's ring (titanium).

The white-gold is classic and simple- it will never look out-of-date or silly. The tungsten is a bit more modern- great for a guy who mostly wears T-shirts and jeans, as it looks really good with casual clothing. However, it might be funny to see an 80-year-old dude rocking a tungsten band someday. But the white gold has its problems too. It can really expand on your finger and need re-sizing a few times over the years. Also, white gold can get scratched or dull-looking if you work with your hands a lot. In the end, I say it's a style choice, and they're both very nice. Go with your gut.

    • ANSWER:
I sent my husband to a jewelry store, he picked out 3 rings that he liked and wrote down the numbers of them so I would know. I went back later and picked out 1 to give him! That is the easiest way to go! That way you can get measured to make sure you get the right ring size as well! The best way to find out what you like is to try some on!

  39. QUESTION:
Help with mens wedding ring (pic)?
We have found a ring my fiance really likes but he said I cannot buy it because it's too expensive, this is the ring:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120071649369&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:us
Anyway, I have a jeweller who made my engagement ring and did a fantastic job (I paid 00 and got it appraised for ,850 afterwards by a different jeweller!) if she can make one like that for him. She said she can make one but and recommends 0.85 carats or 0.5 carats , the prices were 0 for the 0.85 or 5 for the 0.5ct.
My fiance is saying to take the cheaper one but I am thinking, if the diamonds are smaller, then will the proportions of gold around the outside be different? Because I think it is the smallish framing of gold of this ring that makes it so attractive in the first place, and if we have smaller diamonds there would be more gold and it would look completely different right?? Or wrong?
No she did not, I ordered the ring from the USA and had it shipped to Australia where I took it to the best jeweller in our city for an appraisal. The jeweller who appraised it was amazed at the price I paid and said she could not even get the stones wholesale for that price
It's not my money, I don't work I look after our kids so he earns it and we like to agree with each other on all big purchases.

    • ANSWER:
she could either do a ring of the same width with thicker framing or do a thinner ring
you have to talk to her about that
she may be able to sketch it out for you - but i'm sure she'll listen to your feelings and find the best way of doing it for you

  42. QUESTION:
Lots of questions(guys opinions) on Mens wedding bands?
My boyfriend and I have decided to make it a race to the proposal. The rules are whoever proposes first wins and whoever doesn't can either give the ring they chose for the other person that day or whenever they'd like. They can plan a completely diff proposal also. K here are my questions ..(would like some guys opinions too please) If I propose first, is that ok? I mean does it make him feel less manly?
and now to the rings. i found a perfect ring online (but only if i can make some minor adjustments)should I trust anything that isn't Zales,Kays etc.. how much should I spend? Can I get a foreign language engraved? Can a diamond be put into any ring even if it originally doesn't have a spot for one?
If so, I'm really digging this one..whatcha think?
    http://www.kingice.com/Mens-Titanium-Silver-Inlay-Contemporary-Style-Wedding-Band-Ring-P104692.html
    or maybe this one..idk
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Mens-wedding-band-ring-titanium-silver-black-size-11_W0QQitemZ130288668535QQcmdZViewItem
I guess race is the wrong word..we just want to make it fun since both of us want to propose... we've been together for years so it's not like we're rushing...really when it happens it happens..there is no time line..
I just think its great for both of us knowing that the effort is being made on both sides
and for the record I also believe that it's the 20th century and the woman should be able to express her love in every kind of way..if that means getting down one knee and doing the proposing so be it!

    • ANSWER:
Err weird thing you guys have. Why would a couple rush or like you say, race, into a proposal. This makes it into an unromantic proposal and you know what they say about rushing, it is never good. I think you should keep it traditional and make him propose. Personally I think it's just a joke telling your children that the mum proposed to the man because of a challenge they had.
Anyway, about the ring, I prefer the first one. Engraving in foreign language is fine as long as it's in abcd language and not arabic, chinese whatever because they won't have the machine for that (less likely).
A dimaond can't be put in a ring that isn't originally made for it.

  43. QUESTION:
non-conductive metal used to make mens rings?
My fiance is an electrician and I heard that there is a metal that is being used to make wedding rings that will not conduct an electrical current. Do you know the name of the metal? and where I can buy a ring made from it?

    • ANSWER:
It would have to be plastic, wooden or ceramic. All metals conduct electricity to varying degrees - it's one of the things that defines a metal. You might be able to get a non-conducting coating for it, but if it got scratched, it wouldn't help, anyway. He really will need to take it off when he works.

  44. QUESTION:
Rings: Can you buy one and have a gemstone added, or replaced?
I would like to purchase a men's ring, wedding band or similar and have a Ruby placed in it. I am not sure if jewelers will do this, and if so will they do it for a ring purchased elsewhere? Or, must it be done to a ring that already had a setting, or can it be added to a smooth, plain ring? It's very difficult to find mens rings with gemstones- any advice would be helpful!

    • ANSWER:
Yes, you have a few different options here.
      1) places like Zales have monthly events where a jeweler comes in and you can choose a setting and a stone and mix& match the way you want

      2) check out the jeweler's catalog Rio Grande, and you can buy the prong setting separately from the band, and then have any reputable jeweler put them together. It's actually a really simple thing to do. You can also buy empty ring settings.

      3) you can buy your gem here, I've always used Thai gem and I've always been very happy with their products. http://www.thaigem.com/

  46. QUESTION:
OK, what do you think of this mens wedding bands? Too feminine, too anything?
I am purchasing my fiance his wedding ring for Valentines, since we are getting married soon, but it's a surprise. I have no problem with the size, but I'm not sure what to get. In general, do these look too much like women's rings? Do they even look like wedding rings? Which one do you like? I can't afford much, so I can't just get anything. I think I like the third the best, but I just needed some general opinions and/or advice. I haven't decided between the three. Thanks very much!

If you pick one you like, could you please tell why, if you have a reason? Thanks, I appreciate it!
If you pick one you like, could you please tell why, if you have a reason? Thanks, I appreciate it!

    • ANSWER:
When I bought my husband's band, I really took into consideration his style. So with that said, are any of the one's you showed us, your fiance's "style?" Do you think he would want to wear any of them on a daily basis? If he is a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy...he would probably want to wear something a little simpler. If he likes a little "flair" then these are great.

You mentioned that you're on a budget...have you thought about buying tungsten over gold or platinum to keep costs down? Tungsten is a very hard metal that is difficult for men to scratch and dent. It's also only a semi-precious metal, and is considerably less expensive. Tungsten also comes in every style imaginable.

Also here's something else I read...Unlike gold and silver, Tungsten Carbide alloy is hypoallergenic and non-reactive to salt water, chlorine, detergents, alkaloids, or body acids!!. This means they will not react with any part of the body, making them a great choice for even those who are most sensitive to other materials. And this will never tarnish!

Because none of us know your fiance, we can only make suggestions based on our own preference. I personally don't care for any of the ones you picked so far...but maybe your fiance will love them. Who am I to make the call?

Here are a couple that I think look "masculine" and like a wedding band. Good luck!

  47. QUESTION:
deciding on colors for wedding rings?
My boyfriend and I have talked about marriage, we've been together 5 1/2 years. We've looked at rings online and discussed what we want. I know that they sell ring sets that have engagement ring, womans wedding band and mens band. But also sets with just 2 rings for the woman.

My question is would it look funny or odd if I have white gold rings and my boyfriend (husband) has a yellow gold one. I am not a fan of yellow gold, and he likes it better than any other metal rings typically come in. Is it customary for the rings to atleast be of the same metal?

    • ANSWER:
The rings don't have to match, and it will not stand out or look wrong. You can look up the history and significance of wedding rings at Wikipedia and see that the tradition of giving rings is ever-changing. So do whatever makes you both happy. After all, you have to be happy with the piece of jewelry that you will be wearing all the time, and so will he.

You can always get inscriptions with names, dates, initials, phrases, or whatever to show the symbolism of the day and persons to whom your hearts belong.

For pictures, as it is not uncommon to see photos of the hands intertwined in the wedding album, you could always go black and white if the contrast of white and yellow stands out too much. The photographer could even do this after the color picture has already been taken, if you so desire. Otherwise, it's highly unlikely anyone will want to see your rings side by side.

  48. QUESTION:
can a mens designer diamond ring be used for a wedding ring?
The ring I bought my fiance' is 14kt gold and has 56 square diamonds invisible set. It is not a traditional wedding band though. He is currently deployed and will be home and he has not seen the ring yet. He purchased my ring and I have not seen it yet either. I put a lot of thought into purchasing this ring, because I wanted to buy something that was mass produced and ordinary or that there are many of. I bought the ring from a local store after I searched the internet and many many stores around the area. The only ring that is similar to the ring I bought is at this link http://www.itshot.com/detail.aspx?Product_ID=A0176
the only difference from the ring on this link and the one I bought is that the width of the ring is wider and there are a lot more diamonds. I know that he has no idea what kind of ring he would like because he is not used to wearing rings, but he has an incredible sense of fashion and high end clothes and jewelry. Look at the ring on the link and be honest wit me
I made a few clerical errors in writing. I meant to say that I wanted to get something that was not mass produced. Also the question is more of a thing about, if you were in the military and came home to marry your fiance whom you asked to marry you. Would you be happy to see this ring waiting for you?
p.S. I already purchased the ring that I described from a local store and I got it for a very good price.

    • ANSWER:
i was wed twice in my life, the first time simply and informally, the second time formally--but my husband and i both put great thought into the wedding rings, to give what we thought the other would appreciate the most.

i can see by what you said about your fiance being very stylish why you chose this ring, and i can see, per the link, that the one in the link opposed to what you say the local one is like has got to be really spectacular and very becoming of your beloved, one of the few courageous and proud young men that puts his life on the line each day in our armed forces. he deserves such a classy, beautiful ring that is not just like a wedding ring--it is unique. yes, it is not like a traditional wedding band, but that doesn't matter.

what does matter are a couple of things: YOU thought about HIM for a long time as you searched for his ring. not many brides even know to look for, or are encouraged to, find their fiance any type of wedding ring. you spent TIME considering what he likes as you shopped. you certainly did something special in getting him a ring from a local merchant rather on the internet, because the jeweler knows the quality of the stones and told you of that, as well as that you are being patriotic in doing business locally.

i think all these considerations make this really a special wedding ring--albeit that it looks something like a man's cocktail ring or one he might buy for his right hand if not married. but it is such a special ring, very classy, i am sure.

what i hope you are not worried about is what anyone else will say about the ring that you yourself, his bride to be, took so much time and consideration of him to get for him. after all, the marriage is a union of you and he, is it not? others really have no knowledge of why you picked THAT ring for him, because none of them has or will know him as you do. don't let anyone else's opinions or fear of some etiquette rule sway you. the worse that can happen is that HE would prefer a different type of ring, yes? since you bought this from a local merchant, you'd be able to exchange it, i am sure.

here is a way you can figure out if he will like it as a wedding band: go to any jeweler or sit at the monitor using the net looking at both similar and dissimilar rings for him, just to get a feeling of which ones he likes, and why he likes them. the why is very important. try to get to that web site you link to here to ask him if he likes THAT ring, but sort of slipping it by him so that he won't figure out what you are doing. if you see that he loves that ring, then by all means, be sure your ring bearer brings it on the wedding ring pillow to the alter. if he prefers an entirely different type of wedding ring (find out why), then go back to your jeweler to make an exchange.

i think it is wonderful how much time you put into considering HIM when you chose this ring. that is what counts, isn't it? does the current or past or future "fasion trend" count at all? nope. do what makes each one of you happy, and keep doing that all your lives and enjoy your wedding, your marriage, your home, your children, growing old together, and all other things that make a marriage a bond not to be interferred with by others. what god hath bringeth together let no man put asunder (even yourselves).

      good luck and much happiness!

  49. QUESTION:
What finger does a ring go on, if its not a wedding ring?
A simple mens ring, like a cocktail ring, which finger and hand does it go on?

    • ANSWER:
I don't think it matters, but probably the right ring finger.

  50. QUESTION:
    Men's wedding band style?
How would you describe this wedding band? Like if I were to go to a jeweler and tell them this is what I wanted, how would I describe it? Thanks much! =)

oh yes, and what is your opinion on this band for my fiance'?

    • ANSWER:
I would say that I'm looking for a yellow gold men's band, approximately 8 mm, that is brushed in the middle and polished on the outsides. It's hard to tell, but it also looks to be a comfort fit.

I think it's very nice. My husband (who works a lot with his hands) has a titanium band that is designed the same way - it's great because the brushed center doesn't show scratches. Remember, when you are looking at the karat weight of your gold, that it will be on your hand. 24k gold is much softer than 14k.
