      white and off white with maybe some hints of light pink would probably be your best bet.
      You can use greenery to break up the white a bit if you want as well.

      Love your flower choices, mine are almost the same for my wedding! I'm using purple, but I found that the differences in colour tones and texture between the different flowers is enough to keep it interesting, so you could do all white/ivory and your flowers would still look interesting and elegant.

    What filter should I use for my Canon Rebel 2000SLR to reduce purple haze in church wedding. Dresses are pink.
    The wedding is in a 200 seat, medium rise church, the walls are off-white with maroon borders. The carpet is deep purple mixed with maroon. The bridesmaid dresses are rose pink with honeydew sash. Looking at previous photos taken at the church, the deep colors of the carpet become a medium purple. I do not like this purple, and I don't want to affect the natural colors of everything else, but I would like to try and reduce this purpleness. There will be a professional photographer too, but this is for my own pictures. I assume the lighting is incadescent. I have a 58mm Canon. I will probably order a filter from Porters.com. What filter should I get and what is the best film (is there some negative film and what is that)???

    • ANSWER:
      There are very few filters that can selectively change the colors on certain parts of the scene, and none that I know of that would work in your situation.

      The best thing I can suggest is to use a low-contrast professional negative film, which also will tend to give really natural colors, and overexpose it slightly to give the lab a little bit more density to work with when correcting the colors. For your purposes, I would suggest using Kodak Portra 160 NC, Portra 400 NC. If you prefer Fuji, I would suggest 160S or 400H. Kodak Portra 800 and Fuji 800Z are also really low contrast for a high-speed film.

      If you're concerned about color, too, you can also just use black and white. If the paid pro will be shooting in color, some black and white shots taken by another photographer can really complement what the pro gets. For traditional black and white film, Kodak Tri-X and Ilford HP-5+(both ASA 400) are hard to beat. If you don't want to fool with traditional black and white materials, Kodak TMAX400-CN and Ilford XP2 Super can both be processed by any minilab. I happen to prefer XP2, although both are great.

      ~ deep aqua, deep fuschia and apple green (d.f or d.a)
      ~ lilac, pale mushroom and white (p.m)
      ~ purple, orange and forest green (f.g)

      maybe you should just try looking for a formal dress that is hot pink and wear it as a wedding dress. You shouldnt have many problems finding one that is full, if thats what youre looking for. Try looking at a place where girls buy prom dresses, hot and bright colors are very "in" this season and this is the time of year when girls are buying prom dresses so you shouldnt have many problems.       I think champagne or gold bridesmaids dresses would compliment that gorgeous gown perfectly. Pink might look too "matchy", but gold or champagne would look very elegant, playing off your wedding gown, highlighting, but not matching it.

      Too much pink might take away from your gorgeous dress (it really is stunning!)

      But a pink sash or accessories for the bridesmaids would again compliment it, but not be too over-the-top with one colour.

      I vote for black suit, white shirt, pink tie. His bout can match one of the flowers you select for your bouquet. His bout could be either white or pink (and your groom may be more comfortable with white). Ask your florist and your groom for advice.

    Right heres the thing, my girl cousin (23) is getting married in april. I am 17 :)
    Her two sisters and me are the bridesmaids.
    Theres me, size 8/10 (UK) 5 foot 6/7.

    I have a few problems, the dresses are HOT PINK?! like proper hot pink?! It is also strapless, which i'm ok with because it has like ribbin tightening in the back like a corset. It reallys makes me already slim waist really slim, though the others girls its like proper hourglass, like MASSIVE boobs, tiny waist and MASSIVE hips.

    - becuase its strapless i obv cant wear a bra, so idk what to do, cas it has ribbon all down the back too, is there some kind of invisible bra or do i just not wear one, these things are boned and tight btw so no chance of them coming down?!

    - Here is another thing, the bride wants us all to have SPRAY TANS?! I have pale skin aleday though, like not deathly emo pale but creamy pale, will i look ridiculous, she isnt wanting orange tan dont get me wrong, but from my cream skin to brown, and will teh fake tan look good with a hot pink dress?! I feel like an oversized barbie doll!? Should i get the spray tan or not?!

    LAST THING - HAIR STYLES - the other two girls have like short bob dyed blonde hair cuts, where as I have brown long curly hair, just over my bra strap.       Good heavens, child. Does your groom or MOH know you're posting a photo of yourself with plastic breasts all over the internet?
      Anyway, if you were having a classy wedding your groomsmen could wear proper suits or tuxedos, black and white. As it is, you could ask they'd like to wear truffle-colored Speedos.

      If you have a Spring/Summer wedding, have the bridesmaids wear a light gray or silver with a pink ribbon around the waist and have the groomsmen wear a black tux with light pink ties. The bridesmaid's bouquets could be light pink flowers and yours could be white flowers.

      If you have a Fall/Winter wedding, have the bridesmaids wear chocolate (or light) brown or dark beige dresses with a light pink ribbon around the waist. Have the groomsmen wear dark brown suits with pink ties. The bouquets can be the same color as for the Spring/Summer wedding.

    So I put up another post yesterday asking if soft green and soft pink are nice colours for a spring wedding, and I got lots of positive responses (thanks everyone!!)

    But now i'm curious about how to organize the colours of the bridesmaids dresses and flowers and all that... Like do I have pink dresses with a little green in them or the maid of honour wearing green and the others pink?! What do I do?!

    • ANSWER:
      First, a good florist will take up time with you, a sale is a sale and most will let you look thru their books for ages if that is what you want. You can schedule a sitting, no charge, when you have an idea of what you want.

      For bridesmaids dresses, they should be green with pink flowers as there are only mostly lime green flowers and they are too bright for me anyway for spring. Sometimes what I suggest and you will think I am crazy, but I have a 64 count box of Crayola Brand Crayons and a kid's sketch pad. I tell the bride the name of the crayons I used and she if she wants can buy a box, it is the best known crayon name around.

      I picked three shades of green for the dresses, but narrowed it down to one, a soft mint green. I used granny smith apple green, green, and yellow green. I liked the granny smith apple green, which did not look like the apple, but more like a soft mint green. For pink flowers I used magenta and carnation pink. I put the carnation pink over the magenta to get a deep rose and used the pink carnation for a lighter pink. Added a dot of burgandy/wine when thinking of matching men's bouts.

      I think for bouquets you need a deep rose, pale pink, some cream and yellow or change yellow to burgandy, yes burgandy is better, just a dot though.

      There are a lots of roses in the deep rose and light pink colors, although be careful about hot pink, a dot might be o.k. but be careful. Another favorite of mine and it is very elegant is the stargazer lilly, it has a deep pink center with tiny burgandy dots and coming out to end in cream. This would go with rose and pink and bring in just that dot of burgandy you need for the men. You can bring in some cream with the ivory mini calla lilly, I love the creamy white hypericum berries, Look under cream flowers to see these, also creamy white spray roses and cream carnations or mini carnations which are beautiful and inexpensive.

      Also, tulips are available in spring and also the pink callas regular size and mini are great! In addition to tulips, ranunculus, light yellow callas and cymbidium orchids. The white cymbidium with the pink lip or stripes would look beautiful in your bouquet, also comes in baby pink with a burgandy lip, here again a touch of burgandy. Also, gerbera daisies are easy to get and come in a variety of colors, but are not a fav of mine because of the rather large center.

      So, I like for the bridesmaids the stargazer lillies, a medium rose colored rose and creamy mini carnations, the soft lemon green spray roses. Re-think, Change to stargazer lillies, a medium rose, creamy mini carnations, creamy white hypericum berries and burgandy dahlia or mini wine or may be called eggplant callas.

      For yours, if you like roses, be sure they will be white, white if your gown is white. Many say white, but are actually cream. This is why I like for bride's main flower to be white asiatic lillies or callas, callas not my fav asiatic is better. You can add as much pink as you want, some pink roses and the mini burgandy callas. There are beautiful cymbidium orchids in white and cream with pink stripes, lips and some are white and pink with burgandy lips, very elegant, but may be expensive.

      where can i find inexpensive wedding gowns?
      I'm planning a wedding on a budget and looking for a gown that is informal/casual to get married on the beach. My budget for the dress is around $300. Any ideas on stores to look rather than online only? I don't really trust what I can't see in person first.       For men, a pale green vest and tie or a pale,pale yellow or cream with mini burgandy callas for bouts. Groom can have white mini callas and add some of the cream hypericum berries to bouts Groom can have either white or burgandy vest and tie, some brides like groom to have white or muted silver vest and tie. It is o.k. to bring in some light yellow to take away from so much green and you will probably never match, so go with a very, very almost white green or a pale,pale yellow or cream, which will look springy and either will look good with the mini wine/burgandy callas and cream hypericum berries for bouts. If you want a lots of color, the groomsmen would look good with burgandy/wine vests and ties, but too much for me, would take away from the springy look, but do what you like, just don't think should try to match greens with bridesmaids, too much green, need some contrast.

      The roses and cymbidium orchids will make beautiful corsages for the Mothers and Grandmothers. Also, I still love carnations or minis for maybe grandmother's corsages. An orchid for your Mom and roses for his????

      If have servers, some caterers do not need help, but mini carnation corsages are a nice way of recognizing someone who may be helping, but without spending a lots of money.

      Fathers can have small burgandy rose bouts, for something different.

      Greenery I like is lemon grass which was not pictured under greens, ruscus is a fav, small ivy filler, sprengeri fern and probably leatherleaf which is the old standby and inexpensive.

      I would def go darker than your dress, not lighter. Think peonies. You're pale pink (wow, gorge is right), so try a darker pink on them with white accents. Try this: I prefer the darkest pink for the bridesmaids.

    My fiance is in the Navy and we are having a military wedding, can I use pink for my bridesmaids dresses?
    I've always wanted to use pink or an orang-ish color for my bridesmaid dresses but I'm not sure if that's inappropriate or too bright to use for a military wedding. I don't want to use a darker color and I love pink but I want to make sure that it wont look tacky while he's in uniform etc. What do you think?

      John is completely incorrect. There is no such thing as an "Article 1369". The punitive articles only go through 134.

      There is absolutely no regulation as to what you and your bridesmaids can wear. There is also no such thing as a "military wedding", The fact that he is wearing a uniform does not make it military. It is not sanctioned, performed, or overseen by the military. It's just a military theme really. At no time does the UCMJ refer to what dependents can and cannot do. Of course, if you were to go on base and start running people over or stealing from the exchange, the military member would be in trouble. But you are not in the military, and do not fall under the UCMJ. The only thing that is restricted as far as apparel for weddings is that in order to wear medals instead of ribbons, he will need to have that approved by his chain of command (but thats not a big deal).

      The colors sound fine, if that is what you want. If he will be in blues, then the pink will look good. One of my friends whose husband is a Marine did cranberry red dresses with a bright orange sash for the bridesmaids in her wedding, and it looked great with the uniform. There is absolutely no rule anywhere that says what your bridesmaids can wear. Just make sure it doesn't clash with his uniform.

      Ooooohh! Sounds stunning!!
      Depending on what time of year it is, you could have them in a light/ballet pink (maybe with hot pink sashes). For your flowers I would do ivory or white for the contrast factor with just a hit of light pink. You want your bouquet to really pop against your dress so avoid a bouquet of all pinks or it will fade into the dress too much. Also keeping it the same bloom would look really nice.

    i am going to be married in october on the beach. i have decided on a very pale pink informal wedding dress. i have no clue what other colors to pick. i do know that my reception will also be on the beach and will be tropical themed. for that i am being rather cheap and getting brightly colored decorations from local retailers. can anyone help me decide on flowers and bridesmaid colors? perhaps narrow down my reception colors as well.

      I like the pink dress, but I agree it's too much pink and makes it look like a regular formal. You would be surprised at how you'd see those pick-ups in person on the white. They'd stand out more than you think.

      As someone suggested, gray would be nice, or a silver, or nice brown, or maybe gold...even black could be really elegant. If you want more color, (again, as someone else suggested) a light purple could be nice. The right shade of green could look good, and you can't go wrong with blue, plus there are a lot of different options with blue.

      Really, it depends on the style you want for your wedding. It could be an ironic twist to have the bridesmaids wear white, since usually brides wear white. Plus, white and pink are very nice, light, celebratory colors.

      A lot of brides these days don't go for the traditional white, cream or ivory. You see a lot now that is the pastel pinks, greens, blues. If pink is your colour then go for it! And if you want to add yellow then lemon bridesmaid dresses would look great with your pink dress.
      The bouquets could consist of yellow and pink roses, or lillies etc. I think it would be a great colour theme for your wedding!

      In my opinion the red and pink might be to much. Remember the day is about you and your honey. Try to make the two of you the focus and not all the other stuff.
      Try a neutral tan or light brown and soft pink shears. That way the background is not a feature but just melts away and the shears will just be a hint of color.
