Lose The Weight Before Your Big Day

Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

Wedding centerpiece ideas made the middle of your tables magnificent for your guests. As you scurry to keep up with the reception pace, your guests will appreciate creative wedding centerpiece ideas that reflect the theme of your day.

Figure out the theme of your day before you consider wedding centerpiece ideas. Choose ideas to reflect the theme of your wedding day. Often wedding centerpieces are the most important reception decoration because everyone sees them.

Your wedding centerpiece ideas should not discourage conversation between guests or block their vision of the bride and groom. Avoid large wedding centerpieces that get in the way. Use size appropriate centerpieces for the tables. If you have small tables, a single flower bud vase may suffice.

A favorite wedding centerpiece is using vases of different sizes for visual interest. Use several square glass vases filled with flowers as your centerpieces. Include colored pearls to match your tablecloths and napkins.

Consider a wishing well in the middle of each table. Put out slips of paper and pens for the guests to write sentiments to put in the wishing well. After party ends, the bride and groom can read the messages from their guests together.

Heart-shaped centerpieces bring heart to your loving wedding day. Put a glass shaped dish filled with goodies in the middle of the tables. Use a pretty heart plate to serve raw vegetables and fresh fruit. Treat your guests to a heart shaped fondue maker in the center of the tables. Serve irresistible strawberries with melted chocolate.

Flowers are the basis for traditional wedding centerpiece ideas . Centerpieces with silk flowers become lasting keepsakes of your special day. Wedding flowers often used include roses, carnations, orchids and calla lilies. For vases filled with water, use glowing water diamonds to illuminate the center of your reception tables.

Metal boats filled with candies are perfect in the middle of beach wedding tables. For a western wedding, use a glass cowboy boot filled with nuts or candy as a centerpiece. No matter what your wedding theme, a plain glass cylinder filled with candy is always an attractive centerpiece.

Consider affordable wedding centerpiece ideas such as a bowl of fresh fruit in the middle of the table or floating candles in a tray of water. Look through magazines and visit forums and websites to look at wedding centerpiece ideas used by other brides. Use these ideas to create fabulous wedding centerpieces of your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What are some inexpensive wedding centerpiece ideas?
I am having a blue and brown colored wedding, possibly with some pink and/or orange thrown in here and there. What are some inexpensive table centerpiece ideas that could incorporate those? Has anyone found any really good websites for this? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I did my own centerpieces and they cost my under per table. To save money go with something that uses candles instead of flowers. Flowers can add up quickly (even if you plan on buying and arranging them yourself) and candles are great because they really set a romantic mood for your tables.

I got all my candle holders from the dollar store. I used one tall 9" glass vase on each table that was .50 each. And then 4 smaller, 6" vases that were each. The tall one we put gold glass flakes in the bottom and filled with water and had a dark red floating candle in (our wedding colours were gold, silver and dark red). The glass flakes were from a kitchen warehouse store and cost a tub, which filled 2-3 vases, and candles are so cheap from craft, houseware stores or Ikea (I got most of my candles from Ikea, GREAT prices on that type of thing).

For the smaller vases I made vellum paper covers so they looked like custom lanterns. I printed some on my computer with the table numbers on them and then used double-sided tape to stick them to the outside of the vase. I got jumbo tealights from Ikea (24 for ) for the bottom of the vase. Everyone thought it was a really unique way to display the table numbers, as part of the centerpiece display. I had two table number lanterns on each table, and then two custom lanterns with our initials on them. (We had long, rectangle tables, not rounds, but I think the same thing could work with round tables too.)

To do the custom lanterns I used a rubber stamp from a Martha Stewart craft set, that comes with the letters to customize. Then I just used red ink to stamp each piece of the vellum and taped those on to the vases. They looked really pretty! And we used the stamp for our programs and had the baker emulate the design for the cake, so everything tied together really well.

This is what the tables and lanterns looked like:

      Table Lantern

It would be very easy to incorporate your colours with these types of ideas, since you would just need to use the right colours for the candles, sand for the vases, ink, etc. I got the idea for the vellum lanterns from the Martha Stewart Weddings website, and they even have printable templates with patterns to print right on the vellum, instead of using rubber stamps. I know that blue and orange were popular with her magazine's photos last year, so I think some of the templates even come in orange and blue, right from your printer!

      http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/decoration-templates?#slide_7

Again, all the tables cost less than each. We had 8 tables, so that was barely 0 for the table decor ... and it looked SO good, people would definitely NOT think that we didn't spend very much money on decor!

      Good Luck!

  2. QUESTION:
Wedding centerpiece ideas to go with red linens?
So I'm planning a mid summer wedding and the hall I'm using has red linens you can use for free. I'm trying to stay in budget so does anyone have any ideas for centerpieces I could use on red tablecloths in a hall? The hall is log interior with a dark stain. I want to try to keep it summery. I know it's going to be hard with red... What do you suggest?

    • ANSWER:
You could try using red with some hints of pink - I think that the pink would give it a more light and summery feel.
Here is something that you could do: http://www.bloomcountry.com/images/item/lg_StrawberryMargarita-Web850982.jpg

Maybe you could try to use strawberries in your centerpieces. Strawberries usually are associated with summer - and you could do something fairly simple, like this: http://www.platinumfloral.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/strawberry-martini-glass.jpg
      Or this: http://www.shamrockaffiliations.ws/images/rectangular_candle_and_strawberries_centerpiece_LRG.jpg
Or you could use a lantern, then sprinkle white, red and pink rose petals around it, like this:

  5. QUESTION:
    Wedding centerpiece ideas?
    I am having a wedding
and I have two options for a really crazy cake, which im planning everything else around... One is a Mad Hatter cake, which is light orange-mango, strawberry-pink, and dark purple, with these white beads weaving around each tier. I would like a crazy centerpiece to match this. the other cake is a five-tier wedding cake that resembles five boxes of presents stacked on top of each other with a large green ribbon tieing it (edible). The first tier on the bottom is orange, then green (a light grassy green,) then pink that is striped with a darker pink(vertical stripes) then a orange box (which is dark and light pick, checkered) and then a richer orange box, with magenta-pink flowers at the top and bottom. What centerpieces can match these? Colors? I have been thinkin about water-filled glass bowls, with floating flowers, and candles, but they dont match, or peacock feathers..but they dont match.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
Does anyone know a site or company where I can get a centerpiece that looks like:
box (present shaped) candles with a ribbon (edible or not edible, pretty, crazy colors: mango orange, pink, green, purple,) cute and small..glittery... and with a wick so I can light the candle....or anything with a small flower?.... any place? ideas?
    thanks....

    • ANSWER:
my college roommate used mini cakes as her centerpieces. as she and her groom cut their cake, all the guests cut the table cakes too. it was fun and saved her money on flowers. however, if you're matching the mini cakes to your crazy fancy one (which sounds so cool, by the way!) things may get a little pricey! maybe something else to play off the "mad hatter" theme. something like hats on each table that are each filled with something different (one with flowers, one with a couple of dvds, ... whatever your & your spouse-to-be's interests are!). good luck!

  6. QUESTION:
I need fall themed wedding centerpiece ideas?
I need some ideas for my fall themed wedding .. I need some centerpieces.. I would like to start by scattering some fake maple leaf's on the table, so what else can I do?
I've thought about pillar candles, but I just want to hear other opinions, and ideas.
    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
You should look into antique lanterns, they will give your centerpieces a rustic but classy look. I went to a wedding where they did it and the looked wonderful. They had tea lights inside them (or you could buy batterypowered lanterns) You could still throw the maple leaves around the lanterns.

  11. QUESTION:
I need Wedding Centerpiece Ideas for a red and white wedding!
My September wedding planning is done! All except the centerpieces, that is. The wedding is going to be at a beautiful botanical garden with close family only. Then the reception will be held at a different location for all family and friends. We have rented a "house" adjoining a popular Italian restaurant that is on the water and has an "antique-type" feel. The colors of my wedding are red and white. Does anyone have any ideas for simple, inexpensive yet elegant centerpieces?

    • ANSWER:
Go to a thrift shop, flea market, or antique store and purchase all different white vases; you can even use white pitchers. Place the different vases or pitchers on the tables and fill them with red flowers (they don't have to be roses, gerbera daisies or red carnations will do the trick as well). You can even use silk flowers!

  12. QUESTION:
Wedding Centerpiece Ideas for a tropical-victorian themed wedding?
I'm getting married at a Victorian mansion in August but I wanted to add a tropical flair to it since my fiance and I live in Miami and the wedding (and my family) will be in Indiana. The flowers I am wanting are very expensive so I'm trying to cut down on the cost by eliminating flowers in the centerpieces. Anyone have any ideas of how to make a centerpiece without flowers incorporating the tropical and victorian themes? Thanks!!! (10 for the best answer)
I said Tropical...NOT beachy. I am definately not thinking lei's and flip flops. I'm definately thinking more elegant. If I wanted a casual wedding I would've had it in a park. Just wanted to clarify that... I really appreciate all the suggestions so far!! :)

    • ANSWER:
Since you're getting married in a Victorian mansion, you might consider taking a cue from Victorian exploration of the tropics. Have decorative maps, compasses, or other objects connected to exploration. Use swathes of netting (mosquito?) as tablecloths, table runners, or bows on other items. Add in a few big seashells and a coconut shell or so, and Bob's your uncle!

Have fun with bringing the two concepts of Victorian and tropical together.

  13. QUESTION:
does anyone have any good wedding centerpiece ideas using a pictures of the couple?
if you have pictures of something you did like this i could be happy to see them!

    • ANSWER:
How about pictures of the bride and groom throughout the years. You can get a two sided picture frame. Similar to this one: http://www.epictureframes.com/images/Wood_picture_frames/43-158.jpg

Inside the picture frame, put pictures from one particular year say 1984 or 1992. One picture is of the bride during that year and another is of the groom. Make them fun. Maybe one is the bride dressed on on Halloween or one of the groom opening his Christmas presents.

The year can also double as the table name. So, the bride's immediate family sits at 1984 (say the year the bride was born) or whatever

To add to the tables, you can put the frame on a round mirror or put flower pedals down and votive candles around the picture frames.

      Choosing Colored Wedding Dresses

It has becoming more and more fashionable to break with tradition for many modern brides may want their wedding gowns to be unique and reflect their own styles, so choosing a colored wedding gown can be an admirable way to make impressive weddings. But there are some tips you may bear in mind when it comes to choosing the color of your bridal gown.

      Skin Tone and Hair Color

Make sure the color of your wedding gown complements your skin tone and hair color. Some colors can enhance your coloring and some can not. For instance, colors like blue or brown may...

  14. QUESTION:
Anyone have snowflake wedding centerpiece ideas?
I am getting married in January and I am trying to find centerpiece ideas that incorporate snowflakes. I definatly want something with candles, but not something large and over baring. I also am looking for something that I can make myself, but still looks romantic and elegant. My colors are royal blue and silver. Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
Find a template for a snowflake that you like.

Cut out a zillion of them in white or blue or silver craft foam (available for cheap at craft and dollar stores). Spray with blue or silver glitter. Float them, with floating candles, in shallow, wide glass bowls of water on each table.

Cut out a large snowflake from a doilie (available cheaply at craft/dollar/discount stores). Set it under a clear glass plate holding candles/tealights.

Do same as above only make it small snowflakes set under glass saucers in groups of 3 with one tealight each.

Discount store vase (plastic)--spray paint it silver. Let dry. Tape paper snowflake cut-outs to the outside. Spray paint blue. Let dry and remove paper cut-outs. Fill with simple flower arrangement. Perhaps with a safe elevated tealight holder in the middle.

You can also just scatter small die-cut snowflakes in the center of the table and set whatever flower/candle arrangement you like right on top of them.

      Good luck!

  15. QUESTION:
What are some good wedding-type centerpiece ideas?
I am looking for ideas for centerpieces or table dividers for a social function I am planning. I need roughly 50 of them and I need them to be inexpensive. They have to be tall/wide enough to provide the illusion of privacy. The color scheme for the event is open so far, but I would like to go with something classic - something elegant. I don't want it to be too flashy or girly.

    • ANSWER:
How about flower pots (terracotta, ceramic or painted) with a big wire "arbor" (you know, coming up out of the pot in a big arch - you could even do it yourself, twisting coat hangers, with styrofoam in the pots, covered with moss)...and cover the "arbor" with artificial ivy...and tuck in a few artificial flowers that match the color scheme... with more ivy in the pot, and spilling out of it..... You could make them as tall as you wanted (even into heart shapes), and they would look like topiaries..... You could even intertwine a few narrow satin ribbons in there to make it more "wedding"...

  16. QUESTION:
    wedding centerpiece ideas?
my bridesmaids are wearing Turquoise and i do not know what color to use with it. does any one have any ideas for centerpieces and bouquets. and my wedding is in AUGUST!

    • ANSWER:
Please ignore the suggestions using live beta fish. The vast majority of your guests will NOT want to suddenly be given a live fish as a pet, so giving away your centerpieces will not work....and male beta fish must not be kept in the same bowl, so a bride who uses live fish in her centerpieces will end up with 20+ seperate fish bowls to take care of...or her only other option is to flush all the fish. It seems like a real bad omen to kill all of the live creatures that were part of the centerpieces for your wedding.

Now, to answer your question on colors, centerpieces and bouquets:
Turquoise goes well with Aqua, ivory and/or white for a Summer wedding. If you go with a beach theme for your wedding, white, ivory and turquoise or turquoise, light turquoise (two shades of blue) and white would look great.

Going with white, ivory and turquoise will save you a lot of money on rental fees, since you will not have to get special blue tablecloths, you can get white or ivory and use turquoise accents like napkins or favors.

For your centerpieces, use round mirrors on each table. Have a larger vase or bowl in the center, surrounded by small glass votives in turquoise. Put turquoise marbles in the bottom of the vase, fill the vase with water, add a drop or two of blue food coloring and put one or two white roses in the water. Float a white candle on top. The light from the votives and the floating candle will be reflected off of the surface of the mirror, making your centerpiece glow. A fantastic effect.

If you go with ivory and/or white as accent colors, your options with flowers are much wider. Since their gowns will be all blue, I suggest going with simple white flower arrangements...such as bundles of white lillies or white roses with ivory wrapped around the stems. The white and ivory will stand out from the blue of their dresses instead of losing the flower arrangements to too much turquoise.

Just some food for thought. Good luck with your wedding!

Alright... this was my original wedding idea, but grad school and the Air Force are making me change my plans. My idea are a lot of DIY, but you'll save money and they will be completed the correct way.

I envision your centerpieces as huge sprays of dark wood branches.

      http://www.save-on-crafts.com/manzanita2.html

You could spray paint them silver, darker, etc... depending on your taste.

Next step would be to put some plaster in a shallow vase and secure 3 of those branches in the vase (yes, it's ugly). If you'd like you can spray paint the base or wrap it in fabric. The next thing you'd want to do is buy a TON of crystal beads in bulk in different sizes. Really sparkly ones, so when the lights hits them they glow. I would string those and hang them from the branches you secured in the face. You could use as many or as little as you like. I would personally "drip" them all over the branches.

      http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.bridalinsider.com/PhotoSwap/crystal%2520tree.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.bridalinsider.com/photosbycat.asp%3FPhotoCatID%3D3&h=340&w=270&sz=48&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=dOpuOXkNOAJa3M:&tbnh=119&tbnw=95&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcrystal%2Btree%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN

The picture is for inspiration... I'd use clearer crystals, with more sparkle. I think it would be a big wintery feel.. and pretty. On the table I would hide the base of the tree with pillar candles. I would buy 10-20 pillar candles in varying sizes

      www.candles4less.com

and surround the crystal tree. The light would reflect of the crystals and give the room a super warm wintery feel. I would also cluster small votive candles around the table. If you wanted to incorportate white flowers, you can buy roses in bulk (200 roses for 209 dollars) from

      www.fiftyflowers.com

You could either make a very low arrangement to cover the base of the branches in lieu of candles or if you did the candles place a few bud vases on the tables with rose heads in them. Now that I'm thinking about it, you could even incorporate blue beads.

Has Kate chosen Princess Di’s favorite designer for her wedding dress?

New York, Jan 17 (ANI): Prince William's fiancee Kate Middleton is reportedly discussing wedding dresses with one of Princess Diana's favorite London designer.

British tab News of the World photographed Middleton's mother and sister walking into the shop of London frock-meister Bruce Oldfield.

Middleton's relatives spent an hour and a half with Oldfield, triggering rumours that he would be the official wedding dress designer.

"It must have been a special appointment because as a general rule Mr. Oldfield does not do front-of-shop work," the New York Daily News quoted a source as saying.

Oldfield specializes in 'couture occasionwear', and has designed gowns for Faye...

To give the room an icy look I'd hire a lighting guy to wash the room in an icy blue color. This isn't very expensive. All you need is some can lights on stands and place a light blue transparent isk over it.

If you're worried about the cost of centerpieces you could do them very cheap using more or less beads. There are so many alternatives to this design.

If you do not like the branch look, I would visit fiftyflowers.com and pick up some white roses. I'd place a vase with 20 roses at each table with some votives surroudning it (I think from candles4less.com you can get 73 for 30 dollars). In the rose arrangement I would place crystal stems which you could make very cheap.

      http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.genevievemarie.com/images/simplicity2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.genevievemarie.com/simplicityround.html&h=300&w=300&sz=25&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=Uw5zFkTP0GW1sM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcrystal%2Bstem%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN

All you need is beads and wire. On the site above they are 15 bucks.. for you to make them maybe a dollar. This would give the room another icy look. You could dress up the votives and vases with some blue ribbon wrapped around them.

      Hope this helps.

  27. QUESTION:
Centerpiece ideas for wedding anniversary party?
my husband and i are having our 20th wedding anniversary, we have decided to have a party,60-70 guest at a reception hall need ideas for centerpiece.Colors navy and cream, please no flowers something different thanks

    • ANSWER:
One of my good friends is doing lighthouses for centerpieces, they are actually birdhouses. They make great gifts to send home with the family, too! Although, the lighthouses have a personal meaning, since she was proposed to on Cape Cod.

If lighthouses aren't your thing, I have seen some neat Moroccan-style lanterns at Marshalls and TJMAXX and Homegoods. They are tin or wrought iron and colored glass, and you set a candle inside. You could use those, and they would be very elegant and original!

Another fun thing I've seen is doing individual cakes on pedestals on centerpieces, or a cupcake display. Your guests would then eat the cake that is placed on their table, instead of a big wedding cake! This can be either less expensive or more expensive, depending on how you do it. But I like this idea for you, because it is an anniversary and not a wedding, so it's a way of giving everyone cake without it being a big expensive "wedding" cake.

You could also do a collection of pillar candles, 3-5 on each table of slightly different heights. You would have to check with the venue to see if they allow open flames, they may not.

The fish idea isn't so great, because fish are hard to take home, and you never know if one might die. Then your guests are stuck looking at a dead fish while they eat. This is especially likely to happen if you aren't familiar with tempering the water and water types.

      Hope that helps! Good luck!

  28. QUESTION:
    Model Car Wedding Centerpiece Ideas?
I am getting married at a car museum, and was looking to do an inexpensive, fun and creative wedding centerpiece for the tables. We were thinking about naming the tables after either manufacturers or models. We are willing to put together model cars or use hot wheels or something, but can't come up with anything that isn't tacky, insanely expensive, or extremely difficult to do. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we could do?

    • ANSWER:
Take three car photos, tape them edge to edge (inside) to form a triangle.

      Place in center of table.

      Done.

      Do a Mustang table, a T-bird table & etc.

  29. QUESTION:
Need wedding favor and centerpiece ideas?
My fiancee and I are starting to plan our wedding. We have picked a theme our invitations, pillow, server, candles etc. are going to be "Young Love." Our wedding is also going to me mobster-like themed the guys are wearing the pin-striped suits w/ penguin tails, cane, hat, black and white shoes ( you get the hint). I want to make our centerpieces and favor and I need some good ideas. PLEASE help! Oh, and the cheaper the better we are on a very tight budget. Also, our colors are red, black, white, and silver. Thank you so much!

    • ANSWER:
      Hi and congratulations!

If you are on a really tight budget, then forget the favors entirely. If you really feel you need to do something, then wrap up some Hershey Kisses or some mints in tulle and tie it with a silk ribbon.

      http://s7d3.scene7.com/is/image/CathysConcepts/7210?$large$

For the centerpieces. I don't know what to tell you. There is nothing you can do for your "theme" that I can think of.

The best thing to do is to simply do some candles on a table maybe with some silk rose petals scattered. Here is a picture.....very cheap:

  30. QUESTION:
What are some neat wedding centerpiece ideas for a rainbow themed wedding?
I am planning my wedding for June, 2011. My fiance and I booked our wedding hall a few days ago and I am not allowed to burn any candles, so all of my candle ideas for centerpieces are out the window. I have a rainbow theme and am now I'm looking for eccentric centerpiece ideas that won't cost me an arm and a leg.
I was thinking perhaps something with colorful fish but am not sure on that. Seems like it might be a pain in the butt to deal with. Any opinions on colorful fish?
I'm not really interested in floral centerpieces unless someone has an idea that is more creative than the average bouquet centerpiece.
I also want to add that while this is a rainbow themed wedding, it is not a pride wedding, nor is it an Irish "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" wedding, so thank you, but I don't need any ideas centering around those specific themes.
At this point, however, I'm pretty much open to anything as long as it sticks to the theme and is creative. I have a limited budget but want my wedding to compliment my loud personality. I have a lot of time to plan this but am a little stumped. HELP!

    • ANSWER:
I am completely ANTI-fish at weddings. Half of them die before dinner even begins, and there's nothing grosser than eating while a dead fish floats in the center of the table. Plus, there is usually no one to take care of the fish afterward, and they get flushed, which is pretty cruel.

Would it be too weird to have candy centerpieces? Hear me out. I went to a wedding this summer with some "kid tables" set up in a corner with coloring books, etc. The centerpieces were awesome - clear glass jars filled with Skittles, topped with "bouquets" of colorful lollipops held up with floral foam. They were way more fun and colorful than the "grown-up table" centerpieces. Plus they were totally budget-friendly.

  31. QUESTION:
Wedding Centerpiece ideas? No Flowers, No Fruit and No Candles.?
I'm getting married in the spring and I am looking for ideas for my centerpieces. My wedding has two themes: roses and a color scheme (mint green, pale pink, pale yellow, peach, and lilac), however, flowers don't fit into my budget. Tables are 6 ft rounds and I want everyone to be able to see the centerpiece (i.e., no photos, unless it can be seen from all angles, etc.) I need to get away under - per table. I don't want to have candles because the reception is in the middle of the day and the place has TONS of windows, so the light will just seem silly, I think. Also, I don't want to do fake flowers, because I think that makes it obvious I'm on a budget. I'm toying with the idea of stacks of old books with a printed quote from one of them on top, but that's a last resort because I don't think it's very romantic. I'm also not a fan of fruit centerpieces. I'm very traditional. Anybody got any ideas to fit my IMPOSSIBLE requirements? (sorry) Thanks for any help you can give!

    • ANSWER:
Go to wal Mart. Their craft section has the fish bowls that are round with fluted edges. Buy glass beads from the craft section. Then you can put a single item in the fish bowl, or several small items like book marks, etc. Every table can have different items or you could even paste or write quotes on the outsides of the bowls. That will be around each.

You could enough extra roses that you could have a single rose bud nestled into the beads in the bottom of the bowl.

  32. QUESTION:
    Wedding Centerpiece Ideas?
I'm having a military wedding in May and I need a few ideas for centerpieces. So far I have decided to put antique looking letters tied with ribbons, black and white framed photos of me and him dressed like we're in the 40's (WWII), a pearl necklace, dog tag, and little knick knacks like uniform buttons. What else do you think would go with these centerpieces? They will all be different so I need lots of ideas! Thanks!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
Candles, flower petals, would work. What you have already is actually really good, you don't want to add too much because it would be a little chaotic. :)

  33. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any low cost wedding reception centerpiece ideas that have a Vegas theme?

    • ANSWER:
Here are a few low cost centerpiece ideas:
      1. Candles. Get candles in your wedding color and/or different heights

      2. Card Castle. Get a deck of cards and build a house with them. Glue the cards together and place them on the table. One deck usually make 5 big houses.

      3. Fuzzy Dice. Buy Fuzzy dice in your wedding color and put them in a large glass vase.

      4. Records. You can go to thrift stores and buy albums (Famous Vegas artist IE, Elvis, The Rat Pack) and use them for your centerpiece. Each table can have a different artist.

Try Mixing and Matching the above too!
      Happy Wedding :)

  34. QUESTION:
    UNIQUE Wedding Centerpiece ideas?
Alright, I've got about a year left, and i need PICTURES or very very detailed summaries of some unique centerpiece ideas. Here are some things I like, but I don't know how to put it all together.

    *Galvanized vases, buckets
*Stones (not glass marble, but literally, black/brown stone)
    *Colors are coral, yellow, pink
*Outside wedding, inside reception (In a lodge)
    *Candles/Lanterns
But I want it all to look unique, and laid out well on the table... not just a bunch of crap piled on there.. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, even if there is something you think would look better let me know. Of course, I'm going to have flowers in some sort of a vase on the table.. I really wish I just had a good picture to go by.

    Thanks in advance:)

    • ANSWER:
Below are 10 photos I found that reflect something you stated above, and I also through in a couple I thought were "different" and that you might be able to take inspiration from.

Something I am doing for my wedding is adding Feathers to my Flower Centerpieces, it gives them a nice contrast in colour and height ect.

  35. QUESTION:
What are some centerpiece ideas for my wedding?
Colors are: light purple (like a lavender), dark purple, and yellow. My bridesmaids are wearing the lavender, my maid of honor is wearing dark purple. I want some centerpiece ideas that are more than the typical flowers. My favors are going to be small terra cotta pots with thyme in it (which represents "It's about time" we got married seeing we've been together for 8 years). Any unique centerpiece ideas??

    • ANSWER:
Purple orchids look gorgeous submerged in water. Try 3 vases of different sizes (as previous posted said) and filling the bottom with stones in your color (you can find at Walmart or Michaels), submerging a purple orchid in the water, and place a floating candle up top. For a dramatic affect you can also do a circle around the 3 vases with purple votive holders, the purple light flickering will be beautiful.

Another great (but semi-expensive) is crystal manzanita trees - thats what Im using for my centerpiece. You take manzanita branches and place them in a pot and weigh it down with floral foam or plaster, then cover it with river rocks or crystals, whatever. Then you can hang strands of crystals on the trees, hanging votives, or even purple and yellow small flowers suspending on string or wire. They're stunning - you should google them and look at the pictures.

Another idea could be vases filled with lemon slices (for the yellow) and filling the top with a simple lavendar and dark purple flower arangement? Maybe scattering flower petals around the bottom of the vase? Something similar to this: http://www.thepartydress.net/2009/04/flowers-fruit-stunning-spring-centerpiece/
(but without the limes and green flowers)

I think any of these will cut costs on flowers but incorporate them in some small way and still look great in your colors!

EDIT: Here are pictures (1 each) of the other 2 centerpiece ideas so you get a better idea of what I'm describing - Good luck!

  36. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any cute summer wedding centerpiece ideas?!?!?!?
Okay, so my boyfriend finally popped the question and now its on to planning the wedding. This is what we have planned so far: We are getting married on August 14th 2010 at a state park. We are renting out a pavilion for the day. We will be having the wedding ceremony and reception at the same location. We have picked out a caterer, that we feel in love with and the cake is ready to go!
What I need help with is coming up with some cute centerpiece ideas. At this point, I think that my colors are going to be Orchid and cream but I am not sure. I am really just starting to feel overwhelmed and confused and really need some suggestions on centerpieces.
Thanks so much for reading this and I hope to hear back from someone soon!
    Melissa
Thank you so much everyone for replying so far! Your ideas have really inspired me to be creative! My next question is do you think that fake flowers or "cheap flowers" like carnations tacky?

    • ANSWER:
I don't know where you live or whether wind will be a factor. If so, you need to keep them fairly low.

A mirror tile with a bowl with floating flowers in your colors would look pretty.

This bowl is what I'm thinking of - I know you can find them a lot cheaper!

  37. QUESTION:
    DIY wedding centerpiece ideas?
I need some ideas. The wedding is in the late spring. I was thinking of using cherry blossoms. I know I cant get real ones so they will be fake. But im not sure. Ii also love Lillie's, and roses.
    I need some inspiration. Please
Thats what I was going to do. But I dont know HOW to use them

    • ANSWER:
Well if you can't afford real flowers, I would consider submerging the fake ones in water. No one will be able to see that they aren't real (or smell that they aren't real). If you are looking for cheap options, I know that Dollar Tree has glass cylinder vases (yes only each at Dollar Tree), fill these vases with pebbles of your choice, place the fake flowers in the vase and fill with water until it covers the flower. You could also place floating candles on top in the water. So elegant and cheap! No one will tell that you aren't using real flowers and you can use any flower of your choice.

  38. QUESTION:
I need Winter wedding centerpiece ideas using those BIG martini glasses, any ideas?
More of a winter wonderland theme than Christmas.

    • ANSWER:
I would start by 'rimming' the glass in colored sand that coordinates with your colors using a clear drying glue. Get green colored marbles to put in the bottom (1 or 2 per) to resemble olives, maybe even a clear one for a 'cocktail onion' fill with water about 3/4's , and float candles on top!

For a 'flavored' martini color the water to coordinate with your colors too. To make it more interesting, don't make all the tables the same color - alternate clear with let's say blue, or light red for a 'cosmo' feel.

  39. QUESTION:
    Large, DIY Wedding Centerpiece ideas?
I'm getting married in December, and to save money I'm making my own centerpieces. The colors scheme is winter white, burgundy and silver. I just decided on the chairs and tables clothes, which will be white and burgundy, respectively. My coordinator urged me to have large centerpieces that were predominantly silver to work well with the flat burgundy linens. With that said, I need some ideas!
Also, since I'm making them myself and don't want to spend the morning of my wedding making centerpieces, if I wanted to use flowers, would it be gauche to use silk flowers? That way I can make them in advance and the won't wilt. But it's a semi-formal wedding and I'm afraid they'll look tacky. Oh, and the reception will be in the winter around 3-ish until 9pm, so it'll be dark most of the reception. I have lighting, but again, it might be a good idea to incorporate candles?
I could use some pearls of wisdom!

    • ANSWER:
I think it is an interesting idea. And if you do that, the room will smell absolutely wonderful!
It is absolutely a unique idea and I think if you did it, your guests would comment quite a bit on it!

  41. QUESTION:
    Twilight Wedding centerpiece ideas?
I'm having a Twilight-themed wedding. I'm going for a really sophisticated, subtle feel. Anyway, I bought all of the Twilight cars, minus Jacob's since I couldn't find it, (models 1/18 size) to be used as the centerpieces on the tables. I just want them to be dressed up with flowers or something else. Any ideas? Should they be platformed? How should they be presented?

The groom is a Jacob not an Edward! :)
The cars are approx. 10 inches long, 4.5 inches wide.

I'm not goth; though, I do invite any goth-inspired ideas.

In 10 years, everyone is going to think his or her wedding was cheesy no matter what is done. In 10 years, I'll just look back at how happy I was and laugh.

I've never been happier planning this wedding. Thanks for the positive comments!

    • ANSWER:
I'm not really sure what you mean? You got like small micromachine cars? are they 1/18" in size or like 1/18 the size of a real car.

maybe put them on a mirror disk with flowers or pretty pebbles around and flowers in the windows?

ps. wtf is up with the girl thats saying my darling darling and shit like that? ugh. weird

  42. QUESTION:
    Summer wedding centerpiece ideas?
We're getting married on August 7th, and I'm stuck. Now, before anyone gets too carried away with wonderful ideas (that I've read on a number of other questions on here) our wedding has a theme, and, yes, it's VERY nontraditional. See I'm a Vols fan. He's a Dawgs fan. So we have a 'House Divide' theme and our colors are orange, white, red and black. Don't freak out...it actually looks pretty good. But I'm so stuck on what to do with the centerpieces, I'm about to pull my hair out. Our cake topper is a football, so I really don't wanna do that. Anyone creative out there that can help me out?

    • ANSWER:
I have a couple of ideas for you:

      1) Try having a single orange gerbera daisy in a white vase and a red gerbera daisy in a black vase with white votive candles in the middle.

      2) Bright oranges and red apples in a white and black bowl with candles around it.

      3) Have sugar cookies in the shape of footballs placed in a bowl or basket the middle of the table with your school colors tied around them.

      4) Helmets. Try to find minature helmets to place in the middle of the table with a football tee in the middle. (Then, place a candle on/in the football tee.)

Im not american, nor am i a country bumpkin..its a city wedding lol. i dont think we can have hay on the floor

    • ANSWER:
Get yourself a clear glass bowl (usually you can pick these up at a craft store fairly cheap) and do an assortment of things like fall leaves, brown twigs, dried ferns and pine-cones. Something similar to this, but nicer! (its the best example I could locate on the web) http://interiordec.about.com/cs/familyrooms/l/blfallpr027g.htm

You could also get a tall vase and just do long brown twigs. Something like the center piece in these pictures: http://jessicalynn402.blogspot.com/2007/11/twiggy.html

Not sure how well this would go with your set up or not, but simply having really nice fall flowers in a vase is really pretty. Sunflowers come in so many colors now days. Here are some ok examples . .I was thinking something better but again . .best I could find: http://www.do-it-yourself-weddings.com/fall-wedding-centerpiece.html

  48. QUESTION:
simple but elegant wedding centerpiece ideas?
For my summer wedding, I am getting married in a beautiful historic barn, and the reception will start with a sit down dinner. The tables are long rectangular "farm tables". I wanted to decorate them with a long draping table runner, and with a thick row of all different heights of pillar candles. But, I can't use any candles in the barn, because of fire hazards. I want to keep the theme of a long streamed mix of one single item, over and over in a row down the entire center of the tables. Any ideas on what else I could use that would be as cheap as candles? I don't want flowers.

    • ANSWER:
They make "flame-less" battery operated candles (also called flicker candles or everlasting candles) now, that would work well (especially if you use frosted holders).

You can get these for relatively inexpensive at Oriental trading

  49. QUESTION:
Wedding Centerpiece ideas for a CARNIVAL theme?
We thought of doing the carousel or ferris wheel photo frames, but it seems like too much work, and a bit pricey... Our colors are yellow and pool blue. We thought of having flying saucers or elephant ears as favors... But, I have no idea what to do for centerpieces....
I love the idea of cotton candy, but I'm afraid it may be too sticky? And I'm not sure if candles are permitted... We want it to be fun, we're renting a popcorn machine and photo booth as well...

    • ANSWER:
it may sound silly, but how about cotton candy and little with some pretty flowers.
