      May I recommend not wearing flip-flops for your wedding? Unless your wedding is very casual, I think you might regret wearing flip-flops down the aisle. You might find some nice strappy sandals or other open-toed shoes, but I would seriously leave the flip-flops at home.

      yes it is tacky. at the beach or a backyard bbq alot of times people will hand out flip flops to people. unless the invitation says shoes optional, do not wear flip flops. try some rattan sandals or something else in a wheat color. natural wedges would be great. you can find them really cheaply at payless if you are short on cash.

      I have been to plenty of weddings where people take off their shoes, yes, this may sound tacky, but after a few drinks and in the heat of the fun, no one cares. I would invest in a soft padding for the dance floor, or else tuck a little note into the invites or send out a mass email that says some thing along the lines, "Don't forget your dancing shoes" Buying flip flops for everyone is going to be expensive. Besides, flip flops aren't necessarly great dancing shoes either. Also, cheap flip flops can be very uncomfortable and painful as well, and my not be much better then the shoes they are wearing.

      The only setting that I think flip flops at the actual wedding would be appropriate is a casual beach wedding.

      They're called flip flops for a reason. Do you really want that slapping sound as you're going up the aisle? And hogwash that a long dress will hide them. People see your shoes when you walk and when you dance. Also, your gait is very different in heels (even fairly low ones) than in flat shoes: you have a sway to your hips, and therefore your dress, that adds a beauty, elegance and grace that you cannot get with flip flops.

      Flip flops are on the extreme casual end of fashion while a wedding gown is on the extreme formal end of fashion. Why would you degrade the outfit with pool shoes? Would you put your hair up with a rubber band on your wedding day? Would you carry your everyday catch-all bag instead of a pretty purse? You're a grown-up on your wedding day: you should look like a sophisticated one. Nothing about flip flops says "sophisticated".

    Flip flops for a wedding?
    I asked a question the other day, about fancy heels vs flips for my casual park ceremony and people pretty much went off on me about it( not everybody but a few).
    I decided to wear the flips flops for comfort, but I want to know why some people( my family is included in this) are dead set against flip flops for a wedding, or reception for that matter, even if it is a beach or park wedding.

    I'm not taking this to heart or anything like that, i'm just curious, cause I think they look cute when paired right.

      I am actually planning on buying a pair of flat ones in white for myself and silver ones for the bridesmaids for when all the formalities are finished at the wedding. This way they don't need to wear shoes that are killing their feet when they dance the night away.     Most women do not bring flip flops to change into at other formal events so why a wedding? Also, the bride gets her dress fitted specially for wearing heels to the ceremony, so if she changes into flat flip flops for the reception, even if no one can see them under her long skirt, then the dress height will be different and will drag and get stepped on. Why would this type of thing be accepted if you were having anything even remotely formal?
    Also, if you are having dancing, flip flops make that more difficult so you are better off going barefoot if you can't stand to wear the heels anymore, but you still have the problem of the dress dragging from the lack of height.

      You are talking about soccer slides and not flip flops. All major shoe makers also make these. Adidas has some good ones. It might be hard to find white in mens. You may need to get a ladies shoe 2 sizes up for them. I would just have them go barefoot if its a beach wedding. In fact, everyone should just be barefoot.

      Well I wore silver flip flops at my best friends wedding and I was the matron of honor...of course I was 8 months pregnant and it was outside in August....
      I think as long as you look nice you'll do fine. I wouldn't wear Old Navy flip flops to this event, but they have some very nice flip flops out there.
      Plus, if you wear something that you're more comfortable in, you'll be more focused on having fun and creating memories. People are going to remember you starting the bunny hop not what shoes you wore.

    How bad would it be to wear BLACK flip-flops with this dress?

    I'm not used to dressing up, but I have a wedding to go to tomorrow so I HAVE to.

    I know it may seem like a pretty casual dress for a wedding, ESPECIALLY with flip-flops but I really have no other options because I never dress up at all.

    Plus, since I never wear dresses or anything like that, people will be like "wow, i've never seen you in a dress before!"

    I mean, if I was one of those girls who always wore dresses, it would seem a little less dressy. But for me, I think it's gonna seem dressy enough.

    I MIGHT be able to borrow brown flip-flops from a friend to wear with this dress. But I just wanted your opinions on how bad black flip-flops would look with this dress!

      People either love this or hate it. It comes down to personal preference honestly- and it is truly up to the bride. I personally want to feel stunning on my day- and I'm sorry but flip flops will not accomplish that for me. HOWEVER, for many brides, enjoying their day has as much to do with comfort and being able to kick back and have a blast without the confines of uncomfortable shoes.
      So- to each her own and let only the small-minded judge.

      Absolutely! I've known brides to wear flip-flops in their weddings. I've also know a bride to wear a pair of white high-top Converse sneakers.

    What color shirt looks good with brown flip flops and khaki/cream pants?
    I'm going to a beach wedding and need a good shirt color to match the flip flops and pants.... I have fair skin, hazel eyes and light short hair color if that helps any..........I was thinking like a blue but navy or light blue? or which color besides white or black would you say?

      Brown and khaki are both neutral so you could wear anything with them
      but since you're going to a wedding which has a light, cheerful atmosphere, light blue would probably look the sharpest.

      For center pieces, use National Guard promotional mugs. For a cake, use the American flag. If you use flowers, consider catalogue or a red, white, and blue them. For party favors or napkin ties, use old GI Joes. For invitations, make it like a draft letter , like Uncle Sam wants you to attend our wedding. It all depends on how far you want to go.       I got a pair of flat, white flip-flops at pay-less shoe source. they had some gems on the straps. they were cheap and comfy, although i ended up taking them off anyways. They also make a slipper type shoe for brides to wear.
