Lose The Weight Before Your Big Day

Wedding Guest Book

Your wedding guests are obviously a very important part of your celebration, without them there is simply no party at all. So it’s logical that you want to remember each and every person that came to support you on your special day so that you can give them a personal thank you for all the things that they’ve done to help you enter into your marriage. That’s why a guest book and pen set is a very important part of your wedding because it allows you to have a little something personal from each guest that came to celebrate with you. Have each guest sign the guestbook when they come into the reception and drop off their cards or gifts with their many warm and well meant words inside.

Having a guestbook at your wedding reception is a great way to keep in touch with all your guests after the party has ended and you can then send each and every one a personal thank you card or call them up just to talk about the memories you shared on the magical night of your event.

Try picking a guestbook and pen set that not only fits well with your theme but also enhances your theme with its elegance and stylized beauty.

In addition to being a great addition to your special celebration, a guestbook makes a fantastic keepsake from your wedding that you can peruse years later and see all the special people in your lives that care about you and support you in your growing love for your new spouse. This can even become something that you put on display in a special place in your home and can share when you entertain guests at your home or share with your children in the years to come after your wedding day event.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Any suggestions for making a wedding guest book?
I need to make a wedding guest book and am looking for the best way to go about this. I have a ton of engagement photos of my fiance and I and figured I could use these. I was wondering if there is a website that I can go to where I can basically upload my pictures to a preselected format and have the book sent to me. If not, do you have any suggestions as to how I can make a nice guest book? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

    • ANSWER:
You could go to any drugstore photo counter or use snapfish.com and order a glossy photo book but that's hard for guests to sign because the ink will run. I've been to a few weddings where the bride and groom had a photo framed in a wide mat and guests signed all around on the mat as they entered the reception hall. Then after the wedding at home, the bride and groom hang up the matted photo that has all the well wishes from their guests.

  2. QUESTION:
I need some ideas for a wedding guest book?
I'm in charge of making the guest book for an upcoming wedding. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and what would be an easy and cheap [but very nice quality] way to do this? I'd like some unique ideas. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Forget the guest book. They actually sell nice autograph picture frames now. You place a nice candid black & white photo of the couple in the center of a very large Black picture frame. The photo is surrounded by a large white matting where guests sign in (using a fine black marker) when they arrive and write little personal messages. Add the glass on top afterwards. It's a nice keepsake the couple can hang in their home for a long time.

How to make a cute wedding Guest book?
I was talking to one of my friends who is getting married on July 4, 2010 and she asked me if I would make a guest book for her wedding. Of course being the nice friend i am I would make her one. does anyone have any ideas of how to make one. if you could give me some websites to go to for ideas that would be greatly appreciated or just any ideas in general that would be greatly appreciated

    • ANSWER:
There are tons of great ideas out there. Here are just a few that I like:

-Take Polaroid photos of the guests at the wedding and paste them into a book with guest's signatures next to them.
-Make a book (either with glue and scissors or online with digital images) chronicling the couple's lives growing up and together, and leave room for signatures
-Have a framed and matted photo of the couple that guests can sign around
-Have a scrapbook that guests can put together and decorate
-Have guests sign something unusual (a bowling pin, a bench, a tv, etc) that the couple will keep forever
-Set up a typewriter for guests to use

It doesn't specifically have to be a physical book that guests sign. If it is, you don't have to make it, check out scrapbooks and pretty journals or art notebooks at craft stores. You can always make them personalized!

Any suggestions for wedding guest book comments?
My brain has completely frazzled today and I desperately need to leave a comment in a wedding guest book, she is my sis-in-law (husbands sister)who I have known for 15 years, she is more like my own sister and is very special to me, I would like to have a special poem or verse?

    Please help? many thanks x

    • ANSWER:
If you've known her for that long and she's a very important person to you I would leave a comment about a special memory you have with her... Maybe something you can relate to how she'll make a wonderful wife and partner. I would personalize it :) She'll probably appreciate reading a special memory you have of her than a verse in my opinion.

i have heard of the tree, ceramic plate, video booth etc, but am looking for something much more special. Any of you creative people out there that can give me some ideas please?

    • ANSWER:
How about a photo booth (not video), the type that develops right away. You can hire them.
Then you have a photo album with spaces for a photo from each guest to clip into place and leave you a message next to it.

  14. QUESTION:
Is it possible to use brick or stepping stone as a wedding guest book alternative?
I am worried that within time and usage the signature will fade in an outside garden. Is there a special paint or pen I can use to have them sign it?

    • ANSWER:
You can have the guests sign with a permanent Sharpie style marker. Then get the stones to a Monument company and they can have an engraver cut those signatures into the stones by tracing them using the same engraver used to carve names.

Anything else will fade and rub off. Engraving is good for a lifetime.

What would you put as a note by your wedding guest book? Apart from a picture?
Would you have... As a special memory of our wedding please feel free to write a little note

    • ANSWER:
We had fun cutting scissors (that cut in zig zags and stuff), notecards, and colorful pens, and asked people to write their name and a wish/advice/note for the bride and groom, and to cut the notecard in any shape they wanted. We would then put them throughout our photo album after we get all the wedding pictures back as a fun memory. I feel like no one actually goes back and READS their guestbooks, so thats a way to remember people and see their wishes for you.

  24. QUESTION:
Graphic Tablet Software - Electronic Wedding Guest Book?
Hi, a friend is getting married and they were wanting to use a Graphic Tablet & Pen for guests to sign their wedding book electronically. Which they were going to print and match with photos after the fact.

Does anyone know if there is a program that has a blank slate that a guest can sign and write a message and when they have finished click a button and that message is saved and a blank screen is then ready for the next person. This is to be used with a Graphic Tablet. So at the wedding there would be a monitor (the cpu would be hidden) and the graphic pad. If I could format the page with a master background eg roses and writing for example that would be great. Any ideas or is there a programme I can set up to work this way.
    Hi, thanks for your answer.

In regards to Johns answer, it is more of a comment message if you know what I mean. I don't think people will actually be signing their signature as such. But good point, I will mention this to them.

    • ANSWER:
I know this is not helpful, but from a personal standpoint, this is a bad idea. I would definitely not sign anything that retains a digital file of my signature. I still don't sign my real name on the digital pad when I use a credit card. Many of my friends refuse to do so either.
Sorry, I know that is not what you wanted to hear.

  25. QUESTION:
Survey: Which would you prefer a photo guest book at your wedding or the plain guest book to write in only?
If you were offered the choice, which want you pick for your wedding or party, an instant photo guest book that is compatible with a Polaroid PoGo Camera where someone takes a photo of your guest and while they write in your guestbook their photo develops and is place with there comments or the plain guest book where your guests just write there comments only?

    • ANSWER:
We did the photo guest book, and I actually go back and look at those sometimes. We enlisted our adult nieces to take the photos. They encouraged people to be funny and creative, and some of the pictures and captions are just hilarious. I would never go back and read a written guest book again, so that would have been a waste.

    big wedding guest book?
i am having so much trouble finding a wedding guest book that is large in size and has "guest" and "message" on the side. i do not know why all the guest books are so small. any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
I don't know if you are actually set on a guest book or not, but we did something a little different where we put one of our 8x10 engagement pictures in a frame with a large matte around it. Our guests signed and wrote a short message right on the matte. Since we used a nice frame, we are able to have the picture and "guest book" hanging up on our wall to look at any time instead of it being put away and not seen for years. Just an idea!

  28. QUESTION:
Unique ideas for a wedding guest book?
I dont want to do a traditional blank guest book, I would like for it to stand out and be diffrent. I you have any ides for a way to do this please let me know. I was thinking about the Make a wish....take a wish box but don't know of any wished to put in it?

    • ANSWER:
The last wedding I went to had a large picture frame and had people sign or write their best wishes on the mat. They were planning on putting a wedding photo in it later.

Another idea I saw recently was the make a wish idea. They had little slips of paper and pens and asked that every guest write a wish for the couple and put it in this little treasure chest box. The problem with that one is that only 5 people actually did it. : (

One idea I've heard is to have everyone take a photo as they entered (either a professional one, or a Polaroid) that way you'll have a photo guest book. You can compile the photos in a book later on.

  30. QUESTION:
Are ushers and guest book attendants included in wedding pictures?
I was at a wedding a couple of weeks ato (my fiance's cousin's wedding) and they included their ushers and guest book attendants in the majority of the pics with the bridal party.

Is this usually the way it is?

I am getting married in 2 weeks and hadn't planned on having them in our pictures but I think my FMIL is planning on them being in the pictures.

Anyway, I just wanted to know what is usually done or what you all did or will do at your weddings.

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I've never seen them included like that before. It wouldn't hurt to have a picture with the guest book attendants and ushers just so you have it (I'm the type who would want that picture). But they're not part of the wedding party so there's no need for them to be in the formal pictures.

Usually the book is left open for people to sign and they won't see the front. If you want to make a page for the front afterwards, be creative and go to Michaels for some wedding themed embellishments.

  34. QUESTION:
    Wedding Guest Book Ideas?
I have been looking for some wedding guest book ideas that really capture the day and also serve as a keepsake. I read a great article giving me lots of ideas on a wedding guest book but now I can't decide which wedding guest book to choose! : 0

    Here's the article:

My favorite wedding guest book ideas in the article are (and please vote):
    -photobooth rental
    -keepsake/scrapbook with cards
-wish collection with rocks (sounds silly but could be cool)
    -artistic wedding guest book

What do you think? I need help! Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
Wow, that article is great! Lots of ideas for sure... I like the idea of the keepsake book with cards because it is the easiest, most direct and most cost effective. There were some great ideas that were less functional but really cool!

      Best of luck, Sarah

  35. QUESTION:
Does anyone have advise for the guest book attendant at a wedding?
My sister and I are the guest book attendants for our brothers wedding next month. Neither of us has even attended a wedding since we were little kids, so I don't really know what to expect. So any advise would be really helpful. :)

    • ANSWER:
My fiance's sister is doing that at our wedding. She is going to walk around later at the reception and make sure that people have signed it. Don't stress out about it...it's a very easy job. If you do take it around to the tables, just make sure you aren't bothering people while they are eating or anything. It shouldn't be an issue though.

  36. QUESTION:
I am making a scrapbook wedding guest book for my sister's wedding... Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
You might want to decorate a page for each table at the reception. Put the table name or number on it, with a list of each guest at that table, plus however else you want to decorate it (maybe with her wedding colors?).

Then provide markers, pens, crayons, stickers, whatever, with each page, and have the guests write out messages to the bride & groom. It would be a fun activity for the guests.

PS: you could also put a cute anecdote on each page, ie. how they met, how he proposed, their honeymoon locale, etc.

  37. QUESTION:
    Wedding Guest book Alternatives?
Just wondering if anyone is doing anything aside from the traditional guest book and if so what it is?

We fell in love with this idea http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/blogs/wedding_style_file/archive/2009/04/21/wedding-guest-books-use-your-favorite-vinyl.aspx
for those who can't see it is a vinyl record, we are going to have five, but are remaking the labels on them the center will have our monogram, and the other four will have our favorite quotes from love songs and guests can sign around on the black parts with gold pens. Afterwards we are going to have them displayed in a frame somewhere in our home.
I've seen the photo matte done quite a bit I like it, we could always have quotes on the end records, wedding photos on the inside ones and the monogram in the middle I like that idea.
Songbook is a really sweet idea too

    • ANSWER:
My clients were so into hockey that they had their hockey team's jersey custom made with the words "Just Married". They wore this during their grand entrance into reception and wore them during their first dance and then had the guests sign the jerseys instead of a traditional guest book.

  38. QUESTION:
Polaroid Wedding Guest Book? Good or Bad?
I really want to do a Polaroid guest book at our wedding but I have been hearing mixed reviews.
I'd like to hear your comments. Have you seen this before, was it complicated?
Also, do you know where I could find those mini polaroid cameras to use? Tried online but can't find them. Do they still sell them? Do you think that the photo might be too small for a guest book?
Thanks for the advice. I heard it was expensive and out of business too but Adesso bought it and they still produe them, (just found online) for about 0 USD. Not bad. I would have someone take the pictures and put themin the book beside the guests' comment and signature.

  39. QUESTION:
Small wedding - guest book questions?
I was going to skip doing a guest book (they collect dust) and go with a 'wishing tree' where everyone can write a wish and hang it up.

My mother bought me a beautiful frame with room to write (a very large frame) for our wedding and I was wondering if having a wishing tree still (for the more personal messages) is okay - or should I just stick with one thing because they'll end up writing a message on the frame (sigh) anyway?
You're probably right. It will save me time and money (though the tree is so cute!) and since the venue isn't very big we can have it right in the doorway. It's a beautiful frame - really. I just always hated plates and frames. I wanted something different. Can't say no to mom's gift though!

    • ANSWER:
I would probably stick with one thing. It's hard enough for people to think of something to write in one space, let alone two.

  40. QUESTION:
Wedding Guest book out of the Ordinary?
I am having a very un ordinary wedding this weekend, and I had seen online where you could order some guest sign in sheets that were like place mats, and then you could order a binder and put them in. It was like each individual guest could write his or her own personal wedding wish! and then bring them up to the tabel for us to read later! The only problem is I can't the web sight if you know of it please let me know! THANKS

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know the website. But my friend did something a bit different for her guest book. She got a nice picture taken of her fiancé and her before the wedding. She got it blown up to a big portrait and then they put a white thick paper border/frame around it and everyone singed the border around the picture.

  41. QUESTION:
Is it rude to have a polaroid guest book if you have a professional wedding photographer?
Is it rude to the wedding photographer to have a polaroid guest book ?

    • ANSWER:
A lot of photographers will not allow it. Double check the fine print in your contract before going down this route.
But yes, I do think it's an insult to their ability to get photographs of each of your guests.

    Your opinions?
cjsmummy; we are planning to have one of those which is why i see a guest book as being useless. :-P

    • ANSWER:
i wouldnt think so,but its nice for people as they usually do want to write a few words you

im thinking of this instead of a book:

      http://shop.confetti.co.uk/branch/albums-and-guest-books - the signing frame

its your wedding and do what you feel is right - like i said, its nice to have a guest book and see the lovely things people have said but if you dont feel its right, dont have one

    Wedding guest book ideas?
My sister in-law just got married and for a guest book she used paddles and had everyone sign them. I don't want to copy her but i'm looking for something similar. Both the groom and I are into outdoor activities. I want to make it personal just not sure what to do.

    • ANSWER:
The guest book I enjoyed the most was a thumbprint tree. It was a large poster board that had branches for each guest (if it's a large wedding you could have two trees and two posters). You would proved ink to do a thumbprint a pen. Then the guest could make their thumbprint "leaf" on the tree and sign next to it. It made a really cute piece of artwork and seemed a lot more memorable than a guest book.

  49. QUESTION:
Where can I find a wedding memory book? One that includes pages to use as a guest book?
But also pages which include our first house, our engagment, how we met, our honeymoon, stuff like that. I saw one at Hobby Lobby, but it was kind of cheap looking, even though I liked the sentiment. Websites would help, or stores in the Colorado or Central/ Northern Texas region.
