Lose The Weight Before Your Big Day

Wedding Jewellery

A wedding ceremony involves more than simply marrying the person you love. The perfect wedding is an elegant ballet of order and chaos, and items such as wedding favours, wedding hairstyles, and wedding music must be kept in perfect order, or the entire wedding can be thrown off-kilter. Whether the bride is an environmentalist seeking a purely green wedding, or a society doyenne who must have simply the best of everything, the fact remains that planning a wedding can require help. The wedding flowers, wedding accessories, as well as the wedding invitations and the wedding ceremony itself, must all be to the couple's liking; otherwise, they won't enjoy themselves as much as possible. Some people enjoy a beach wedding, while others prefer a fall wedding. The fact remains that there are hotels that specialise in handling weddings and taking as much of the stress away from the wedding party as possible. Hotels that handle hundreds of such weddings annually are very good at ensuring that every aspect of the wedding is perfect, from the wedding centrepiece to the wedding announcements. They will bring in clergy to handle the wedding readings, and they'll even hire the wedding band. The wedding bouquets are often prepared on site, and they'll even have their staff work with the wedding party on their wedding vows. These hotels typically have wedding chapels on site, and they often have a wedding DJ or wedding band on retainer to provide the music. These groups, of course, know the wedding march, as well as a number of wedding waltz options. Regardless of the wedding song that the couple wants, the band can typically arrange it. First dance lessons are available for those who need them, and these destination wedding resorts often have a full time wedding planner. These resorts that handle a typical destination wedding even have a wide selection of wedding card options, and many of them are in warm destinations for those couples who want a winter wedding. They'll assign staff to man the wedding book and ensure that guests make a record that they were at the wedding, and the wedding dress and wedding veils are stored to prevent damage.

There are a few destination wedding resorts that are wildly popular with UK residents, and they handle the entire wedding from start to finish. The Marriott hotels across the UK and Ireland can handle weddings of any size, and it all starts with the planning. Representatives from the resort will meet with the wedding party to determine the size of the wedding, and they'll work out seating arrangements for both the rehearsal dinner and the post wedding reception. The Marriott hotel has a staff that will create menus that the guests will enjoy, and the qualified culinary staff at the hotel will go out of their way to prepare the best dishes for wedding guests. Menu tastings are provided, including samples of the various wedding cakes that the staff offers. The Marriott staff can offer ceremonies that satisfy most major religions, and certainly include same-sex ceremonies, as well. A honeymoon suite is provided for the bride and groom, and honeymoon packages can be booked at more than 2,500 resorts worldwide. A destination wedding can be arranged through Marriott even if the wedding party doesn't want to use their local Marriott for the ceremony. The staff at the Marriott can handle any special requests, as well, including kosher menus and menus that satisfy most other major religious requirements. Wedding packages may include a champagne brunch, as well as a lunch buffet or a formal dinner. Regardless of the type of dining preferred, guests are guaranteed to enjoy the food and the atmosphere, and it frees up the wedding party and family to socialize with their guests.

Of course, there are other destination resorts that are popular with UK and Ireland residents, and perhaps the most popular of them all is the Hotel Phoenicia, on Malta. Formerly the Le Meridien, the Hotel Phoenicia is one of the most luxurious of all the hotels in Europe. The staff at the Phoenicia will spend weeks working with a wedding party to ensure that every aspect of the wedding is absolutely perfect. The hotel will fly in staff, if requested, in order to provide the best service possible. The Phoenicia can handle weddings of nearly any size, since the sprawling grounds are perfect for holding an outdoor wedding. The culinary staff at the hotel isn't afraid to take requests, and they'll go out of their way to ensure that special dietary requirements or requests are met with style and flair. The Hotel Phoenicia also offers rehearsal dinner services and brunch for guests of the wedding party, and blocks of rooms can be reserved so the guests can be close to one another.

  12. QUESTION:
strapless wedding dress do they look good on one with broad shoulders, which type of jewellery compliments this?
Strapless wedding dresses,do they look good on someone with broad shoulders? And which type of jewellery compliments this look?

    • ANSWER:
Perhaps I'm going against the grain here. I think that strapless dresses only look good on a very particular body type. NOT broad shoulders. Rather, delicate bone structure, thin and curvy build, medium sized (B to C) chest.

Otherwise you tend to look like a boxy ruler, stocky, shapeless, or chunky. It is a very hard dress to pull off. They look great on models, but unless you look like a model....they never look as good on most "typical" brides.

If you are very wide/broad, you want to draw the eyes inward, and/or slightly down. Think about it. So a deep V-neck would be best. Avoid strapless and halters.

That said, you may be able to wear a sweetheart neckline. Or you may find a strapless that works for you. Go to a salon and try different styles on. You never know.

As for jewellery, I suggest that while you *generally* want to keep it simple, really, this is one area where you can do whatever you want. Try different jewellery, be creative. You might be surprised. Some women look GREAT in pearl chokers, others like delicate teardrop necklaces. On my body type (short, thin, curvy, short neck), I look great in v-necks and thick chokers. You may look best in a v-neck with a long drop necklace. I highly suggest you try on jewellery like you would a gown. Some creative type brides wear big funky jewellery. Have fun with it if you want and personalize your look. Or go simple understated and classic. Or anything in between. Remember, you don't have to look like a "McBride", and every other bride that's gotten married in the past 3 years...show some personality. Every bride almost looks the same now...it's boring.

All of that said, no one here can really tell you what you should wear. In the end, that's really up to you. And it's hard to say even what you'll end up liking or what would look good on you for sure. So get out there and start trying things on!

      Good luck!

  13. QUESTION:
What jewellery should I wear with my wedding dress?
It's quite a plain dress. It's the shape that makes it distinctive but it has no sequins/crystals or pearls on it. Should I go for big sparkly jewellery BECAUSE the dress is plain or should I go for understated jewellery? Is there some sort of rule on this? What do you think?

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Depends on you- are you chic or do you want to do the miss America look?

I always say- go "real" even if it's costume keep it at a modest size so that it looks like a real diamond instead a giant hunk of glass.

      Hip, Modern Wedding Style

Not every bride is a lace and lily-of-the-valley kind of girl. If your personal style leans towards clean lines and cool details, then you should definitely incorporate that into your wedding. Having a hip modern wedding is perfect for a stylish bride.

Modern can actually mean a variety of things, but one thing that is a given is a clean, unfussy aesthetic. A lot of the traditional wedding dcor will not be right for a wedding done with a modern twist. Instead, look for things that are bold, chic, and hip looking.

A great place to start is with choosing your color...

Can her video and pictures of marriage with jewellery help proving that there was jewellery involved and she has the possession of it? Any help will be appreciated.

  16. QUESTION:
Whats a good excuse for not wearing my mums choice of jewellery on my wedding?

but you dont want to upset her ..
and she is really pushy and forceful with her choice..

    • ANSWER:
Just don't say anything, let her assume you are wearing it and when she sees you with what you prefer on, she may have a hissy fit, just tell her in private that you wanted your own special jewels to have and keep to wear on your wedding anniversary. If she stays mad, her problem, she should let it go and let you do it your way. If you don't want this, you are going to have to have a very firm talk with her about it. Or and this is sneaky, talk with your fiance about this and buy what you want and he will be in on it and may well offer to pay for it. Then, just show her what 'Jim" bought you for your wedding day---she may argue that, but you have a good reason to disagree. Play the part, Oh thank you Mother, I will wear yours on another special day, the baptism of our first child or something like that, placate her, make her feel that her feelings are at least being considered, maybe that will help.

    • ANSWER:
I had a celtic/scottish theme for my wedding in August and managed to find jewellery to match in Ortak jewellers. If you can get to Glasgow there is a shop in Partick called Robin hood and they do jewellery made from heather. The stalks are dried and coloured and they may match the tartan your mum will be wearing.

  20. QUESTION:
How much is your wedding jewelry and veil?
You don't need to wear a real diamond necklace at your wedding, right? I mean some fake jewelry are also made beautifully and they are extremely cheap, how much would you like to offer for such things? And the veil?

    • ANSWER:
You could borrow jewelry from a grandparent or mother or friend :) I've seen many brides do that.

Also, you can probably find great deals on synthetic or cultured Jewelry at Macys for under 0. I bought my bridesmaids cultured pearls for a piece as their gift from me. They have all kinds of sets (necklaces and ear rings, or bracelets) at those types of department stores, so look around at those places. Nordstrom Rack, Marshells or TJ Max may also have some hidden treasures too. Also, Kay Jewelers has cute stuff for under 0 most of the time and you can open a CC account through them too if you cant pay upfront. The payments are usually /month.

My veil was 0 from Davids Bridal, my pearl and diamond necklace and earrings were ,500. I got my hairpiece at Claires (LOL) for , I actually wasn't going to wear it but then all the bridesmaids and hairdressers thought it looked really cute and said they would never had guessed that I bought it at Claires, so I wore it. lol.

  24. QUESTION:
What's a good name for my wedding business?
I'm going to try running my own wedding supply website, specialising is wedding jewellery, favors, invites and wedding lingerie. Does anyone have a good idea what to call it?

    • ANSWER:
Speaking from experience (this is what I do for living!)

No one will remember your name, if you use a happy wedding pun.. trust me,
      a) every different combination of"wedding words" has been used already
      b) the average user gets so confused about remembering, they'll just bookmark your website.

I mean, look at this: http://www.bridalnetwork.ca/directory.cfm?regionid=133&CategoryID=56

This is what your clients will be seeing: long lists of "cute" names, all of which will sound exactly the same, one minute later.

      - Try something simple and personal, like YOUR name.
      - Choose something that starts with "A" if possibly. Be on top of most lists
      - If you use two words, make them start with the same letter (ex. "fabulous favors") they are easier to remember
      - Don't worry too much about the name - worry about your content and marketing. You can brand the dumbest name, just by repetition

Hundreds of companies like the one you are thinking about are currently advertising in our system. I wil tell you, for free, that the successfull ones have totally average names. But really good marketing.

If anything, names like "something blue" simply tell your clients that you lack imagination! They are obvious..

Oh, one more thing: right now, 80% of wedding searches online include the word "cheap" or "budget" in them. Economy is bad. Try "budget wedding supplies" and you 'll probably become rich! :-)

  25. QUESTION:
Is silver an ok choice for my engagement+wedding rings?
I love silver, i think it is so much nicer and brighter than white gold or platinum and i would really like silver wedding jewellery.

But what about longevity, tarnish problems etc? Will it still look good in fifty years time?

I have no idea so all advice would be gratefully received!!

    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
You have to be verrrry carefully around certain chemicals when working or cleaning house. Silver gets attacked easily by chemicals.

Platinum is the best and is impervious to chemical attack. Problem is, it's expensive.

Palladium is in the same family as Platinum and is also hypoallergenic like Platinum and costs less.

White gold is great too, but requires Rhodium replating every now and then.

    Wedding Jewellery advice please?
this weekend my FH asked if I'd thought about my jewellery... which I hadn't! and I've seen a few questions around necklaces today, so I'm asking for your advice/suggestions.

this is the dress, and my hair will be up... what shape necklace? pearls? Diamond? I don't even know where to start!

    http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=1&D=2142&P=2

    • ANSWER:
I think a dress like that would look best with a very delicate necklace, maybe a thin white-gold chain with a single pearl in the middle, very close around the neck. Anything more than that would overwhelm the dress, because there is already such beautiful beading in the bodice. Don't want too much bling!
Also, I wanted to remind you that many brides use a necklace belonging to their mother, MIL, or other female relative or friend as their "something borrowed." Does anyone you know have a beautiful necklace like the one I described that you could borrow?

Help with wedding dress & jewellery?
    Hi,
I am thinking of buying this as my wedding gown but am a bit put off by the silvery looking detailing because all of our jewellery is yellow gold. I don't plan to have much gold showing on the day, I will only have my engagement ring which is mainly diamonds, my wedding ring is set in yellow gold but is pave so you cant see much gold and my earrings will be 1.4 carats of diamonds so you cant notice the gold much with those either, but my fiance wears a gold chain and his wedding ring is gold (but once again, more diamonds than gold..)
Anyway I am just unsure about mixing yellow gold with silvery looking dress things. What do you think? Also if you know of any grecian style gowns without silvery detailing please post : )

  36. QUESTION:
What wedding jewelry should my bride wear?
My bride to be's grandmother has a necklace she really wants her to wear. However she doesn't actually like the necklace her grandmother is offering, and wants to borrow a necklace from my mother (who has offered to lend her jewelry). She is upset about upsetting her grandmother but would prefer not to wear that necklace. (i don't have pictures of any of the necklaces.)
    Any thoughts?

    • ANSWER:
The bride should wear what she's more comfortable in. She can't forget that the necklace will live on in the wedding photos forever. Does she really want to look back on them and say, "I wish I had just put my feelings aside and wore my mother's jewelery."

She can ask her grandmother if maybe she can wear the necklace for the rehearsal dinner, but that she would like to wear her mother's jewelery the day of the wedding because it's more her style. The grandmother should understand.

How much did you spend and what did you buy for your wedding jewelry? She had me match her hair accessory this is how I came to this design.

Do you think this is too much? I bet people pay a great deal more.
Okay so if someone made something custom for you it might be worth more than 0.00 to you especially if it was a gift right?
Okay, but then what do you do when someone want you to make something to match something she has? What should I have done? Made it out of plastic? This could be my future sister in law and she treats me like family.
Okay does this make sense. I am making jewelry for the Bride?
Alex O I have no idea what you are talking about. I do not know what Ude means.
I asked her if she needed help and she said she did because she could not find what she was looking for. She found something, but it is only her back up. She sent me photos of her hair ornament and asked if I could make something like that. She was really excited. I have already made jewelry for her mother. I make jewelry all the time.
I am really used to making jewelry. It only took me 90 minutes. I am just waiting to hear back from her on a final decision.
It may have been more expensive, but she cannot find what she wants. It may not be more expensive.
Well when it comes to family. I guess I spoil them and I guess she is starting to feel like family.

    • ANSWER:
I think what you are doing sounds really nice! The price is very reasonable unless you are on a really tight budget. Even then, it is nice to splurge for a special friend for her wedding!

I wish my Sister in Law was as nice as you!

For my wedding, I just wore a small pair of diamond stud earrings that my husband gave me. I think they cost about 0! My dress had a lot of beading so I didn't want to wat a lot of jewelry.

  42. QUESTION:
How much did you spend on your wedding jewelry?
PLEASE do not say nothing. I do not have ANYONE to borrow jewelry from. So I am seriously trying to figure out how much to spend. There is a beautiful swarovski crystal and necklace set I want that is 79.99+shipping. I know I would wear this again. I have seen other sets as cheap as 16.00 but I would never wear these things again....they are cheap looking to me. So what I want to know is how much did you budget for and how much did you actually spend?

    • ANSWER:
I hadn't made a budget, really. My gown had crystals and other embellishments, and I know I wanted a longer-type necklace, so I found a gorgeous one of crystals - graduated sizes, it was . Crystal drop earrings (not a set, but matched nicely) were 25 or 30 I think.

So the price of your set sounds fine. I've worn mine lots since the wedding.

  45. QUESTION:
Is it possible to make jewellery from Uranium? Like an Uranium wedding ring?

    • ANSWER:
Yes it is. You just have to use depleted uranium. The military uses depleted uranium for the tips of projectiles that require armor penetration. Theoretically if you acquire the Uranium that has already decayed or beyond its half-life it is safe to use, but I wouldn't try it.

  49. QUESTION:
does bride and bridesmaid jewelry match on wedding day?
Does the bridesmaid and bride jewelry on wedding day match? Can it? Such as all the same necklaces? What do you think, what could unify everyone jewelry wise? ANy experiences?

    • ANSWER:
I would say if you're going for a more unified look, have the bridesmaids jewelry be the same but yours either completely different or bigger and better. Such as:

      1 drop pearl necklace-bridesmaids

you- a whole, full pearl necklace

Whatever the bridesmaids have, make sure the bride stands out, so double it. A necklace with 1 row for the bridesmaid, maybe 2 for the bride and a little variation on it.
