Lose The Weight Before Your Big Day

Wedding Planner Book

Once the bridal bouquet and ceremony flowers are chosen, it's time to focus on what type of wedding reception flowers you may use. You'll need to look at food tables, guest tables, the head table, as well as decorating accents throughout the room. However, you don't need to use only flowers. There are a wide variety of choices of greenery that can also be put to good use.

First, you must understand where larger flower arrangements are appropriate... and where they are not. The more elaborate floral arrangements can be used on buffet tables, cake tables, on stands near the entrance and staircases, and close to the band or DJ. These types of arrangements, however, should not be used on guest tables or the head table as they are too large and will block the view of the guests.

Table centerpieces created from flowers should be kept low and small. Make sure they compliment the overall color scheme and theme of the wedding. Nor do all the table centerpieces have to be identical. A unique and interesting idea would be to use a variation in the types of flowers, yet with the same color scheme.

Small bud vases are best used on guest tables. A great combination wedding favor and table centerpiece idea would be to cluster small vases with a single flower in each. After the wedding, the guests can take home one of the bud vases as a wedding favor.

If you can not afford to use many large floral arrangements, choose 2 or 3 for the buffet tables or other key area and decorate the rest of the room using balloon bouquets, tree branches with twinkling lights or rented palm and/or ficus trees.

Edible bouquets are also very popular for table centerpieces. Spun sugar sculptures, fruit baskets and miniature tiered wedding cakes also serve a dual purpose as a table decoration and wedding favors... or as dessert at the end of the meal.

Here are a few more wedding “flower” bouquet ideas you may want to consider:

- Wedding wishes cookie bouquets
- Milk chocolate long Stem roses candy bouquets
- Twinkle pop/lollipop bouquets

As you can see, you can incorporate many "floral" bouquet ideas into your wedding scheme without breaking the bank. Large floral arrangements are beautiful to look at, but they can also be very expensive. Consider some of the alternatives to help save money, yet still create unique flower arrangements that will delight your guests.

Sometimes when you set up your registry the store will have freebies, including a planner.

For my planner I just used a calender/notebook combo I bought at Staples, I think it was like . There was a section with a calendar (and weekly pages too), a section for phone numbers, 3 blank sections, and 2 pockets. I practically slept with it.

  7. QUESTION:
Can anyone recommend a good wedding planner book/organizer?
My dear friend got engaged on Christmas Eve and I'd like to get her a Wedding Planner guide/Organizer so she can stay organized during this next year + of planning.

    • ANSWER:
Well i have actually made my own, with help from websites such as http://www.theknot.com and http://www.ezweddingplanner.com which were both very helpful to me.

But i also went to JCPenney's and registered in their gift registry. Once you put 15 things on it (mind you that you dont have to use them), they give you this AWESOME planner book for free! It has separate catagories for everything!

Get her for sure though a big 3 ring binder, page separators, page holders, 3 hole punch, calculator, and business card holders. She will need it to keep track of everything. A notebook would also be sweet!

    • ANSWER:
The Knot or Brides.com are great online planning sites and both are free of charge. The Knot used to provide a free hard-cover wedding planner to all "knotties" but not sure if they still do this. Amazon has a plethora of planners - I'd advise you to select one that is a three-ring binder and has plastic sleeves that you can easily add/remove pages and have places to keep tear-sheets from magazines and print outs from websites of dresses, flowers, hairstyles, etc organized.

Congratulations on your recent engagement from everyone here at Robbins Brothers!

A4 or A5 book to use as a wedding planner?
I want to plan my wedding in a book, so i can collage ideas, write notes etc.
I don't want to buy a wedding planner, because i have a check list, and i'd rather have my own little artistic mix.

Do you think i would be better carrying it with me so i can note down ideas while i'm out?

    • ANSWER:

  12. QUESTION:
What is the best wedding and keepsake planner book available right now?
I want to buy one for a future bride as a Christmas present, something current, and I am not sure which one is the best. It should be a planner as well as a keepsake book. Help!

    • ANSWER:
There are a ton of options on the market right now. A week ago today, we went to a good friends wedding that the bride planned with her mother. (meaning they didn't hire a professional wedding planner.) It was an incredible event and you would never have known that she did all the organizing and planning herself. I put a link below to the wedding planner/organizer she used. She said it was awesome! I also too pictures and posted it on my blog. You're welcome to check that out too!

Best of luck! I hope your day is wonderful!

  14. QUESTION:
Did you find a online or book/binder style planner more helpful in planning your wedding?
I am looking for wedding planners to help me be organized and there are so many to choose from. Did you find an online website with an organizer, or a book/binder planner more helpful? Which ones did you like/recommend? Are there any to stay away from.

    Thanks!!!

    • ANSWER:
I used the planner on TheKnot.com. It was very helpful, especially since it posted 'alerts' as to what I should have accomplished, or should start thinking about, during that month or week. It had some things I didn't even think of!

I also bought a wedding binder organizer, but I never used it! I just kept all of the vendor info and contracts in a folder.

  16. QUESTION:
I can't find wedding planner book?
I recently got engaged, and I'm very excited. I bought a binder and put clippings from magazines in it to save some of my ideas. In some of the magazines it gives timelines of things that need to be done six months before, six weeks before etc, and I was wondering where I can find like a wedding planner book somewhere with these timelines that I can write in. A book that I can fill out with information on venders, wedding parties, etc. perhaps something I can have as a keepsake with things and ideas from the weding.

I'd rather have a book of some sort, so that way I can have one big book instead of having mutiple binders and such. I looked at local bookstores and grocery stores and can only find magazines. And I can go to websites and print these off, but aren't there books out there somewhere?
yeah, I was told to go to borders, but there out of business in the town closest to me. :( barnes in noble, a few hours aways..perhaps I can order one somewhere? We dont even have a walmart here..

    • ANSWER:
I got a book called The Ultimate Wedding Planner. It comes in a binder format or a spiral 'notebook' format. That was pretty helpful. It has tabs seperating the different sections, like flowers, catering, photography and so on. Then in each section it gives you a list of questions that you want to ask each vendor and it gives you space to make your own notes and pockets for idea clippings.
Another good book to read is The Knot Wedding Planner. This is more of a book, not a workbook, but it gives you background on different ceremony types and their religious meaning, it has invitation wording for different family situations (divorced parents, etc...) and arrangements for the wedding party to walk down the isle. its a pretty helpful book, but I will have to say, all in all, I used the internet for most of my research and then just put it in my workbook.
Have fun planning you wedding. I had a blast planning mine~

What are some fun and creative alternatives to dancing?

What are some fun and creative drinks that are non-alcoholic?

How can I scrimp and save without making my wedding look cheap? (without deleting people from guest list - I HAVE A BIG BIG FAMILY!)

P.S.I'm Brazilian and I want to incorporate some of that into the food, but I don't want to serve regular Brazilian food. If you have any thoughts or experience with Brazlian weddings, your input would be GREAT!

My budget is ,000. I'll probably have 150-250 (or less) guests.

    • ANSWER:
The Knot's Wedding Planner is very detailed. As for saving, I would try ebay and maybe craigslist depending on where you live? You could always serve virgin drinks. As for alternatives to dancing, I once went to a wedding that had a comedian instead of dancing. Hope I helped!

    • ANSWER:
i'm not sure how specific you'd like the planning or details to be, but i was reading two wedding magazines this week and the planning sections in those were brilliant.

Take Your Dog to Work Day: The Sharp Dressed Dog

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) June 19, 2007

Leading online and mall based pet gifts and accessories store, Moochie & Co., is helping dogs get dressed for success as part of this year's Take Your Dog to Work Day.

"This is a great way to show your dog off to the boss," said Kristie Lewis, Moochie & Co.'s Merchandise Coordinator. "We want to celebrate Take Your Dog to Work Day by giving dog owners the opportunity to pamper their pooches in stylish office and work clothes."

Moochie & Co.'s online pet gifts and accessories store features dog...

the mag's are called Wedding Ideas (weddingideasmagazine.co.uk), the other is Perfect Wedding (perfectweddingmag.com), they're both £2.99 monthly.
both magazines seem to be geared heavily toward british customs in general, always pointing out what they are stating as traditional or modern as well. one of them had a budget planner that didn't give so many details you'd cry, but enough so you knew roughly where you stand. another feature was a countdown - 18 months to go, 12 months to go, 9 months to go, then 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. there are directories in the back of websites for different things like cakes, dresses, florists and all the rest of it, top table seating plans for situations like separated parents of bride/groom etc....

i'll stop now, i'm starting to sound like a promotion agent!! ha ha!! but they really are brilliant, i think the published books tend to go into a bit too much detail

  24. QUESTION:
Just got engaged!! Need a good wedding book/planner/organizer. Any suggestions??

    • ANSWER:
I would recommend you take a trip to your local bookstore (i.e., Barnes & Noble, Borders) and compare the wedding planner/organizers they have available. Most large bookstores carry a large selection of planners to choose from. Once you've had the opportunity to compare, you can pick out books that best suit your needs. I choose to purchase a wedding planner that provided both suggestions on wedding planning and an accordian binder to hold all of my contracts and wedding related papers, but I can't recall the name since it was over 4 years ago.

booking wedding/wedding planner- can i pay a deposit and then by installments without a credit check anywhere?
im planning on getting married abroad in a couple of years but wanted to get the ball rolling with a wedding planner asap. i dont have the funds to pay for everything yet but i have a small deposit and would like to pay a couple of hundred quid a month until its paid off before the big day. Where can I find a website to sign up for wedding cake catalogs?
I'm getting married in April and I need to have some options for a wedding cake. I don't always have access to the internet and when I do I don't have long and don't have access to a printer if I find one I like. I'm also looking for a free wedding planner book. 31. QUESTION:
Where can i get free wedding material?
I am 24 I am getting married next year I was wondering does anyone no where I can get any wedding planning stuff! You know like wedding guide books, wedding planner books free anyone help please!

    • ANSWER:
theknot.com, weddingwire.com, the Martha Stewart wedding website, snippetandink.blogspot.com, offbeatbride.com and indiebride.com are very good free websites that are quite helpful with wedding planning.

I didn't need any magazines or planning books during my engagement. The magazines are basically just advertisements for wedding gowns and useless products. You can easily use a regular binder or a small notebook for keeping track of your lists and plans. Don't waste your money on these things .. rely on the free websites and use a binder/notebook and a folder to make notes and hold onto your contracts and receipts.

  32. QUESTION:
What are things I can do now in order to become a wedding planner?
im 15 now and i really want to be a wedding planner...im looking for books or magazines and the ones that ive seen are expensive but i was wondering which ones are better LOL

im also wondering what are some tips for college or are there things i can do during the summer while im still in highschool?!?!?!?!

    • ANSWER:
Find out things that must go into a wedding. I would suggest buying a wedding planning book, and use it as a template. Learn how to budget, coordinate, etc.
Take a look at Preston Burke's stuff, he has designed a lot of beautiful weddings! That is something I would like to get involved in, right now I'm studying Interior Design, hopefully I can work that into a career with weddings as well.
One thing you might want to do is start researching wedding venues, florists, dress shops, bakeries, caterers, etc in the area and make yourself a bookmark file to all of these. I've heard that David's Bridal has a very extensive colour coordinating section. That may be good, and you also might want to look into the extras like monogrammed napkins, centerpieces, confetti, wedding favours.
Read up a lot on wedding traditions, and symbolism. If you really want to do this just start looking at everything to do with weddings and immerse yourself in it. Books may seem expensive, but they are a good investment. Just decide before you buy it, if it is just nice to look at, or if there is lots of valuable reference information. Also if you go to a bookstore in your neighborhood, find books you like and make note of prices, when you go home check on amazon.com and barnes and noble to see if you can save money.
And, if you do end up changing your mind about your future, at least you decided young, and won't have to worry about a career switch later on.
      Good luck!

  33. QUESTION:
How long Should I book The hall for my Wedding?
I am getting married in august, and need to book my hall i also need to get quotes for my dj.
The hall will be used for both the ceremony and the reception and they will follow one after another. How long should I book the hall for considering set up and cleanup and how long should i book the dj? 1 hour? 2 hours? I need help, we are trying to make this wedding inexpensive so that we can have a big honey moon in Japan so a wedding planner is out of the question.

    • ANSWER:
I'd reccomend the whole day. That way things won't be all rushed, nobody likes a rushed party. And no one will remember your wedding half as much as they do the reception. My sisters wedding was also done inexpensively. Catered by the Safeway deli and lots of it, lots of soda, beer and some wine. A cousin acted as DJ. The reception started at noon, the bride and groom left at 4, the party lasted until after midnight. 19 years later and people still talk about it. Another cousin had hers at a very expenesive hotel, lush expensive everything, booked for two hours. All anyone remembers is the hotel staff clearing stuff away while people were still eating.

  36. QUESTION:
Too young to become a wedding planner?
Do you think 21 is too young to become a wedding planner?
Im interested in becoming one but im just wondering how many brides would let a 21 year old plan a wedding when most wedding planners are 30 plus, and have planned their own weddings first!
Ive always loved weddings, Ive compiled a list of all the wedding venues etc in my area, read loads of wedding books and even helped my mum plan her wedding last month but I am just wondering is 21 too young to make a business out of it?????

    • ANSWER:
If you are passionate about being a wedding planner, then you have won half of the battle. You know what you want and you should take the steps to achieve your goals. If you want more experience, perhaps working for a wedding planner is the first step. But, if you feel confident you can delegate responsibilities and be accountable for thousands of dollars in bride's deposits/down payments, then go for it.
I was a 22 year old bride, made my own dress and those of my bridal party. Next thing I know, I am getting calls to make wedding gowns left and right. That natural talent started my business. And when the bridal fashions were no longer a challange, I became an interior decorator, specializing in making window treatments.
So, my dear, go for it and do not look back as your heels smoke.

I have three suggestions, that I've personally used before. (as a maid of honour each time) I liked them all, they each offered their own pros and cons.

      http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Wedding-Organizer-Checklists-Worksheets/dp/1593376405/ref=pd_sim_b_42

      http://www.amazon.com/Bridal-Bargains-Wedding-Planner-Planning/dp/1889392308/ref=pd_sim_b_2

  39. QUESTION:
How on earth do I plan a wedding?
Alrighty...I just got engaged...**YAY**...I'm so excited!

Problem is, I don't know the first thing about planning a wedding....I will probably get married around Oct 2007...I've started making a scrapbook of ideas and found a dress thats to die for....I got a wedding planner book...actually my fiance got it, but won't let me have it til Christmas!!! hehe

I'm on my own in a lot of ways...so I need girl advice on how to get started! Any tips, lists, suggestions, etc...would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
The best thing to do is to go to the message boards on theknot.com. They have local boards so girls from your area can recommend vendors and also tell you which ones to stay away from. I had no idea where to start either but after being on there for a couple months, I've found a lot of GREAT deals, booked vendors I would have never heard of otherwise and gotten some great tips.
Book your reception and church as soon as possible- they book up fast (a lot of times it's a year in advance or more!). Then photographer, videographer (if you're having one), dress, bridesmaids dresses, and florist, etc. (Those are just the most important ones to get done).
And go to bridal shows! They start up again in January and you can find tons of great deals and win GREAT stuff! I've won waterford crystal toasting flutes, 0 off my dress, a bridal bouquet, a night in a suites hotel, gift certificate to a florist, and a hand mixer! You'll definitely win stuff that will help you out!

  40. QUESTION:
what was your best wedding resource (other than a planner/consultant)
ok, this is just an opinion question, there is no right/wrong answer, all i ask is that you answer in a polite way (no bashing or harsh words please!) BUT... what wedding planning book or software have you found to be the best and most usefull for you, i am in the PA area, and do not want to hire a wedding planner, we have a consultant, but that's just for the reception. but which book/software/website have you found to be the best singularly or combined and why?

    • ANSWER:
This will probably sound so cliche but I found the Martha Stewart website the most helpful. It give's you step by step list of things you need to do. Also you can find her wedding planning book at Wal-Mart or Barnes and Noble. I'm getting married in Oct. and this book was exactly what I used to plan my own wedding of 250 people. Hope this helps.

  41. QUESTION:
About how many customers does a wedding planner have at once?
I'm thinking about becoming a wedding planner and I want to know about how many weddings a wedding planner usually does at once? To make more money I would have to be doing more then one wedding at a time....so what do you think would be a good number of customers before I'm "booked"?

    • ANSWER:
i believe it is up to your capabilities. Never accept more than you can handle.

      Good luck!

  42. QUESTION:
Should the wedding planner give back the deposit?
A friend says that she once hired a planner, had given her the initial deposit and made an additional payment for the planner's services.
The planner did do a good job, and the planning was moving along very nicely but my friend called off the wedding only a couple months in.

The planner told her that when the time comes, and she does indeed need a planner- that the amount she's paid can go toward the new amount. However, the planner did not offer the deposit back.

This all took place a few months back and now my friend has decided the planner was wrong to not return the deposit- since it was described as the "reservation of services" for her wedding date. My friend believes that since the planner can now freely book another wedding for that date- she should return the deposit.

I think my friend is bitter, and...wrong. AND, it was only 0 deposit.

    What do you think though?
she claims that the contract does not specify the deposit being non-refundable, only "payment of services rendered" being nonrefundable. Because of the lack of specific wording- she feels that she is owed her deposit back.

    • ANSWER:
Sorry honey she doesn't get it back. She is actually quite lucky to have a planner who is willing to apply it to a future wedding. She had done some of the planning and is therefore due her payment and actually the planner is within her right to recharge again in the future. Sounds like she is going out of her way to be nice to me.

  44. QUESTION:
What would be a creative way to do my book report?
The book is Maximum Ride: Max by James Patterson. Some examples of creativity would be:

someone who did a book called "Just Listen" made her book report in the form of an iPod.

someone who did the book "The Wedding Planner's Daughter" made a wedding invitation.

How can I portray MY book in a creative, but relative way?

Make the design(like the plot, exposition, climax, etc.) into the form of a rollercoaster.

  45. QUESTION:
I read a romance novel about a wedding planner and a prince--anyone know the title?
My mom got it for me randomly last year from a library. From what I remember, there's a wedding planner hired to help a prince get married, but instead she marries him to please his dying father. Of course they end up falling in love, etc, etc. It's a series, and in one of the other books I think (I think) the plot involves a detective. It's been driving me crazy--any help would be great!

    • ANSWER:
idk but now i want to read it

  46. QUESTION:
What can I do now to plan for our wedding that's next December?
How soon are you supposed to book your reception site? Would a wedding planner/organizer book help me plan for the wedding? Or is it unnecessary?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Personally, I had a planner/organizer and I wrote maybe 10 words in it and that was it - so I think it's not worth it. I wound up writing notes on scraps of paper or on a legal pad that I kept in my oversize purse - lol. Honestly, I think they're a waste of money - do what works for you as far as organization.

As for the reception site....don't wait too long. I would say book at least a year and a half in advance, but if the venue you are looking into is a very busy, popular place, you may want to start looking now and at least put a small deposit on the room to have them hold it for you.

      :)

  47. QUESTION:
Suggestions for a wedding planning organizer or book?
    Hello,

I just became engaged over the weekend, and it's quite exciting! We have yet to set a date etc...I will start thinking about details in the next 3 months or so...yet, I would love to get a hold of any books, mostly a wedding organizer, or a scrapbook of some sort to insert any ideas...since, I will not be using a wedding planner (I'm on a budget) I would love to hear any of your suggestions...I really don't know how to begin!

    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
There are lots of cute ones in major bookstores. I found that the pockets were too small and too few, and there was a lot of writing on topics that didnt pertain to me, or I already knew about. So I used a large binder and made labels for each new section as we planned. Whenever I got an idea or was gathering information on something, I stuck it in that section of the binder. I used the internet for questions on etiquette and so forth, and I used my calculator for budgeting.
After the wedding, I went through the binder and pulled anything that I used in the wedding, or things I saved while planning, and made a nice scrapbook that matched my wedding stationery.
This is just my suggestion. Happy planning!

  48. QUESTION:

    Thanks, MJ

  50. QUESTION:
    Monica's(from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.) wedding book Idea?
Ok this is silly cus I'm so young, but my mother and my sisters and I Love, i mean loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, wedding shows we watch dozens of them, its how we bond, talking about how we each want to do our weddings, where they are going to be...ETC.
My mother had the idea to start writing them down and collecting things like Monica does in the TV Show FRIENDS.
But I went to Borders Book store and saw they have wedding planners on the shelves.
Which should I do? Get a binder and things like that.
Or buy a premade one and fill it with things. If so have any of y'all seen one like that? All i can really find locally is books about wedding planning not really a binder type book that i can fill with ideas.

    thanks. :D

    --lauren alice.

    • ANSWER:
I dont recommend buying a planner because you it may have categories that dont apply to you, or you may find that you need more space than they give for one section. Its not flexible enough.

I suggest getting a binder, some pretty envelopes, or even a blank scrapbook so that you can organize things your way. You can glue the envelopes into the scrapbook pages. You can get some pretty scrapbook paper to cover the blank pages, and you can glue your ideas right on that. Write notes or ideas next to magazine clippings. Use cute paperclips to attach other ideas and notes. You will get lots of ideas at a scrapbook store, you really should visit one for ideas. It should be a blank slate that you work from, not a premade book.

      Have fun!
