It is not tacky to ask for money and it is more prevalent now than ever. I have seen the decorated money chests at weddings that guests drop an envelope in. The best way to make this wish of your guests is via word of mouth. Never, in my opinion in writing (on the invite) Let family and close friends know that the couple is not registered and that money would be appreciated. Although not expected.

      I made up my own free wedding website outside of theknot.com, weddingchannel.com and weddingsolutions.com. I went to freewebs.com and created our own website only because those have a lot of crap with them and it is way too complicated to do this and do that, when all you need to do is upload photos and type in things about you two.

      They have some great things for all bridal party members. It will take a lot of clicking around to find what you're looking for, but they have some excellent resources and ideas for decorations, hair, dresses, everything. I'm not sure of what kind of checklists there are, but I know for sure there are ones for the actual wedding day and events leading up to it. I hope you find what you're looking for :)

      Cant go wrong with theknot.com there are checklists and answers to all the questions you could imagine (for a wedding), such as etiquette, seating and stuff like that. You can post your registries, make a guest list, track your RSVPs and more.

      Check out this website. On the first page select which state you live in. After that, it will show a list of all florists in that state. After that simply click on any florist and their link to their official website is shown. Click on that and you will see each florists portfolio of pictures, arrangemetns and pricing.

    What are the BEST BOOKS, MAGAZINES and WEBSITES that would show me WEDDING and RECEPTION DECORATIONS/ IDEAS?
    I already know about theknot.com and weddingchannel.com (searched them over again and again -- The Knot has some great stuff with Real Weddings that has helped me out) and I have been looking at Brides, Elegant Brides, Modern Bride, etc. They all seem to focus more on the dresses and rings and not on decorations or reception ideas.

    We are having an outdoor summertime evening wedding next year and we want it to be in between formal and informal. I was thinking of a country (but not gingham check tablecloths and sunflowers) and sunset theme (idea from a YahooAnswers buddy...Thanks Miss D!!).

    Do you know of any books, magazines, websites that would for sure have ideas for what I am talking about or anything you think might have some ideas?

      Search for your local florist, i.e. if your wedding will be in Sacramento, type Sacramento florist. Look for the true local florists., then go to the wedding category. There should be lots of pictures where you can get ideas for your wedding decorations and set-up. Or you can go to the local florist - they have a lots of books that you can browse from - books by John Henry, Teleflora and FTD.

    HELP with weddingchannel?!?
    I created a wedding website using weddingchannel.com. I set our profile to protected where guest have to use a password to see it, however, I changed the setting to only have a few pages protected instead of having them all protected and now none of it is protected. It won't go back on.

    Also, I'm trying out the guest list to allow guest to RSVP, so I typed in my mom as the first guest and I tried RSVPing under her name but it says "she" has to give her email address.....my mom doesn't have an email address, and I don't want guest to have to type one in and not be able to RSVP...I couldn't find a number to call either.....

      Unless you're too far in, I would just switch to a different wedding site.

      I did that a few times during my whole process of getting my wedding stuff together.

      I loved weddingwire.com I haven't had any issues with them yet.

      But if you can't do that

      It depends on what you're looking for. I've found the chat boards at theknot.com to be much more helpful than the rest of the site. Their local boards are valuable at finding local vendors. I really like the Offbeat Tribe at www.offbeatbride.com. The ladies there are very creative and resourceful, and no one is condescending of each other. www.mywedding.com is another good place to look for local vendors as well as inspiration pics from across the country.

      I used to like the chat boards at weddingchannel.com which were more creative and helpful than the rest of the site but they added the video implement which slows everything down if it doesn't crash everytime. I haven't found brides.com to be useful at all. kvetch.indiebride.com is useful in some ways and not helpful in others.

      If you're looking for hairstyles, do a Google search for 'photobucket be_byte6' which has a huge gallery of ideas. (Yahoo won't let me post the link).

      I found my florist on TheKnot. Usually even the ones you think are going to be expensive will work with you. They know not everyone has an unlimited floral budget. Just be honest with them and say, I can only spend XYZ$ at most, what can we do with that? The key to saving $$ on flowers is to purchase only what will be IN season at the time of your wedding. If they have to import tropical orchids from Brazil or special Dutch tulips, trust me, it is going to cost a bundle. Incidentally, I'm in an area that, like Los Angeles, is sky high when it comes to weddings...NY, so I understand the need to save here and there. The florist I'm dealing with is used to these 200 thousand dollar affairs where the flower budget is like 15-20 grand. But I told her that I would be spending 5K at most, and she has done a fabulous job so far, stearing me towards flowers that are a little less expensive, but have the same look I am going for.       Hey I am getting married in June in the Lafayette area and I first of all wanted to tell you that weddingchannel.com and theknot.com are both very wonderful websites but when it came down to the local vendors parts they suck. When I first started planning I looked on there and it didn't help me at all. I don't know much about Baton Rouge but I since you have a little bit of time before you really need to book something just do some research. Go to some bridal expos and call around. You may think that the internet is your most valuable resource right now but honestly it is not. Break out the old phonebook. I promise you there is more in there than you might think. Your first thing you need to do is book your ceremony site and your reception hall to ensure your date and then you should go from there. For your reception hall look into restaurants, hotels, your local American Legion hall, or maybe your park has a recreation hall. Just do alot of research before yuo book something. And somethimes doing the ceremony and reception at the same place doesn't really cut the price at all. Like for instance my reception is going to be at The Manor in St. Martinville (I don't know if you know where that is) and I was planning on doing an outdoor wedding there too. Well to have my wedding there it would be an extra 0 plus my rental for the reception. I decided to not do it there though because I was nervous about the weather. South Louisiana is so unpredictable. So I then began looking for a church and my mom was like why don't you just do it at The Manor it will save you money. You are going to have to rent a limo of you do it somewhere else. Well you see the church we are now doing it at is going to be actually cost around 0 and the limo(which is a hummer...lol!) is going to be free with so many tuxedo rentals. i actually am saving money by not having my wedding there and I get a hummer limo. So just research all of your options before you sign anything or pay anybody. There are amazing cheap photographers out there but you have to look for them.       I'm confused. The page "3" link above doesn't have a "Kobelli" ring on it. Page 1 and page 2 both do, but they look totally different. Therefore, my suggestion would be to print a picture of the one, or ones you like and take the picture into the jewelry store.

      The last opition is very formal. I think the other ones are pretty similar except for the color. What is the color scheme for the wedding? How much of it does your bride what you to incorporate in your suit? Most brides only want the groomsmen to have a little bit of color that match the bridesmaid dresses. So that's something to consider. I think the first choice looks smart and not too formal.

      All in all it depends on how formal your wedding is going to be, if it's a more laid back relaxed informal go for the first 2 choices, if it's more formal but not ballgown formal only go for the 1st choice and if it's a balls to the walls completely formal event go for the last choice.

      Find your dress on sale, on ebay, or at goodwill.
      Fewer bridesmaids, etc = lower wedding cost.

      Have a friend/family member that knows how to style hair do yours for the wedding.

      Do they allow HTML overriding? I dont know if you or your future hubby have experince with HTML but the site can be REALLY spruced up if you are allowed to do that.

      ok first off you will have to go to home depot for the exact color of bronze you want but look for a product called rustoleum and also pick up a spary can of metal primer and some steel wool..
      1~you will need to ruff up the surfaces of the candle sticks for the primer to hold on, you will use the steel wool for that.
      2~remove and dust off candle sticks..
      3~spray primer on both candle sticks.let dry.
      4~spray colored bronze on candle sticks,more that one coat might be needed..
      5~all this should be done in a well ventilated area.

    half up bridal hairstyle?
    i'm being a little picky, but i can't find anything even similar anywhere i've looked
    i have really long hair (below the bra-strap) and i will be wearing clip in extensions for volume only
    i want it half up, i'm torn between loose or "bumped" my fiance isn't a fan of the bump in general so i'd love to show him some pics of how it could look with a tiara (simple) and veil (also simple)
    my hair is very straight but i'm hoping for waves on the big day...not curls
    i have long bangs and my mother may kill me for wearing them out but i still kinda like the side bang - especially with it the classic 60's-ish look (kinda flat on the forehead - pinned to the side)
