QUESTION:
Where can I find autumn/winter wedding dresses?
Where can I find autumn/winter wedding dresses? More specifically, where can I find wedding gowns that cover my back and arms? I have sleeves and a back piece (types of tattoos) and would like to cover them (for the sake of not having both families freak out). Are there any designers or patterns out there that are still stylish (vintage would be fantastic) but don't look like I pulled them from the back of my mother's closet?-

QUESTION:
I can't find Winter Wedding Dresses!?
I have been searching and searching...online and locally (In a town, that has SNOW for the Winter season!)...and have come up with only limited gown choices for a winter wedding.I'm talking dresses that will be worn OUTSIDE...
Any recent Brides have any suggestions to online bridal shoppes, or even boutiques in NorthWestern states, that I could visit?
Help!
From the UK...http://www.weddingo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/up3d12l.jpg
And only the ceremony will be held outdoors. A simple, yet elegant, short affair. The reception will obviously be held inside.
My Fiance' and I, celebrate the winter! We absolutely love everything about it...Hence the outdoor event.
-
ANSWER:
What you might have to do is buy a wedding gown made out of a satin material which would be thicker than tulle and then have a long-sleeved shrug or a bolero made to go with it. If your reception is indoors, you can always take it off. If you do go with the bolero or the shrug, you can always have that made short-sleeved and wear long satin gloves (opera length gloves).I've seen photos of winter weddings where the bride wore the furry-looking or feather looking long-sleeved bolero jacket to go over the wedding gown and it looked really pretty.

How appropriate is wearing a mostly black dress to a winter wedding?
I'm going to a winter wedding this weekend and I'm wanting to wear this black dress it does have a red sash below the bust, and is knee length. Do you think this would be appropriate?
Personally, I don't think that wearing black to weddings is inappropriate anymore but the wedding is at 2 o'clock and reception isn't until 5. What are your thoughts on the color of this dress? The wedding is not black tie and I don't think it will be a very formal wedding either.

QUESTION:
Wedding dress color for a winter wedding?
Hoe do you think of white and ivory color for a wedding dress? If I am going to have my wedding in winter then which one is better? Would white be a better option since it is winter?-
ANSWER:
It really depends more on what shade looks better with your skin tone (trust me it makes a difference!) When you go to the bridal salon ask them for swatches of differently colored fabrics and hold them up to your skin, you'll be able to tell. Stark white looks awful on me (I look washed out) but ivories and softer whites are okay for me. It's just different depending on the girl!Good luck and have fun shopping!

QUESTION:
Winter Wedding: Flowers and Dresses?
Our plan is to have a winter wedding in December of 2011 but I have a couple of questionsFlower: I've fallen inlove with a bouquet that has mini calla lilies, phalaenopsis orchids, tulips, mums and white pheasant feathers. Would I be able to get those flowers in the winter? I don't know anything about flowers to be honest.
Dresses: My maid of honour and I have chosen the bridesmaids dresses but they're strapless and short. Is that unreasonable? Obviously they're going to have a coat/winter wrape and we're in a heated ceremony/reception with the only time they'll be outside is to and from the vehicle to the buildings.
-
ANSWER:
Flowers: Your choice in flowers may be limited, but maybe you could do something different!
I don't know what that different thing isDresses you have younger Bridesmaids then you should ask the parents, but for the ones over 20, i'm sure it'll be fine.
A tip: Do not waste money on an ice sculpture though.. i know it's a winter money and all, but people aren't really affected by it being there. My sister spend a crapload of money on one at hers. and some kids ending up knocking it over. The parents thought it had no worth and didn't even offer to pay

QUESTION:
I really love the cap sleeve wedding dresses are they appropriate for a Winter/Fall wedding?-
ANSWER:
Anything is appropriate when it's YOUR wedding!I was married in Winter...and had my dress with sleeves specially made by my mum...as ALL the designers said "Girls will suffer for Fashion - we don't have dresses with sleeves". Which to me is a cop out - designers should be able to create a fashionable wedding dress for those brides that choose a winter wedding. We don't all want to be COLD!

QUESTION:
Does anyone make long sleeve wedding dresses anymore?
I am planning a winter wedding and I am having trouble finding a long sleeved dress. Does anyone make one anymore. It's not that I'm the most modest woman ever I just want to be covered up. We are getting married in a church and I think I should not be showing it all off.-

Try Davidsbridal.com. They have a large selection of gowns which are not too pricey. They're not high-end designer gowns, though. Mostly just obscure brands.

QUESTION:
What should a middle aged teen girl wear to a church formalish winter wedding?
im going to a family friend's wedding in November...and i need to find a dress that would be appropriate for a indoor church winter wedding....the bridesmaid dresses are knee length brown pencil shaped dresses....i don't want to over do it...but i don't want to under do it either...i don't do tube top dresses..if i do i wear a sweater or shrug...can you give me some websites..and shoe ideas also..Thanks so much : )
-
ANSWER:
I'm not sure where you live, so its hard to know how cold it is for you to be wearing this and that, but here are some ideas. For the shoes, I suggest some simple ballerinas, paired up with some opaque, rather thick tights (so you don't get too cold).
Aaand for the dresses, here are some simple, yet formal ones, in other words, perfect for weddings:

http://www.oasis-stores.com/Double-Sleeve-Funnel-Shift-Dress/Formal/oasis/fcp-product/3470059909
Here are some more dresses http://www.oasis-stores.com/formaldresses/dept/fcp-category/categorylist?resetFilters=true but the two I gave you are my favorites. They are minimalistic, fashionable, and beige (very important-- not too dark for a wedding, neither white like the bride).
Good luck finding the perfect outfit! I hope I helped

QUESTION:
What kind of wedding dress will you prefer for a winter wedding?
Definitely you will not use a chiffon dress, satin fabric with huge train?-
ANSWER:
I am a dressmaker specializing in bridal wear. If I were to get married in the winter, I would make myself a velvet dress with a cape which has fur trim on the edges. The train would be very, very short so I could easily maneuver it in the event of inclimate weather.

QUESTION:
Accessories for a winter wedding dress?
I bought this dress for my summer wedding. However we had to change the date to January 30, 2010. The dress is paid in full and I love it. So now i'm trying to adapt a summer wedding dress to a winter wedding dress.Would gloves go with this dress? Or is that old fashion. Also what else can I add to keep warm. I live in Kansas and it will be cold in January.
http://www.moonlightbridal.com/newsite/product.php?pid=756&search=i-972#-
ANSWER:
Keep in mind, there really isn't that much of a difference between the winter and summer styles. I know your dress will work find for the winter
It really depends on how could you feel. I know some brides get really hot in their dress with the people and the cameras, so you may make out with just a little cover up when you're outside.
Some ideas I've seen used for winter brides:
-tights or hose, or even sexy leggings underneath for the really cold winters.
-capes
-gloves work well (no they are not old fashioned, they can be beautiful)
-shoulder cover ups (some thicker than others)
-I've seen a bride actually wear a white coat that was nice looking, she removed it during the ceremony of course.Have fun shopping
Beautiful dress!

QUESTION:
What do you wear (female) to a winter wedding? I prefer dresses?
I prefer to wear dresses to weddings, I love floral things and lace. I'm 22 and a size 10 Australian (I tried to find conversion but couldn't) Because it's winter it makes life harder. Can you wear long sleeve dress or does that push formal out the door? Any help would be great and if you have links to ideas that also would be fantastic. I prefer flowy type dresses to clingy as my stomach isn't what it used to be after having had my daughter and some weight loss
THANKS
I can't find ideas anywhere!
Pretty sure its evening, well the reception is anyway & it's at a pretty posh place i think
-
ANSWER:
To a winter wedding I would usually wear black, but if you like floral than you can work with that. I thinkg long sleeves would be ok, you can always dress things up with jewelry and ALWAYS the SHOE you pick out. Sometimes the long sleeve dresses cut down in the front for a little cleavage make it look a little classy and sexy
haha. But like I said dress it up elsewhere if you think it isn't dressy enough. If it still isn't, keep on shopping girl.

QUESTION:
Is it appropriate to wear a beaded dress to a winter formal day wedding?
HelloFriends of mine have invited me to their winter wedding in August (Australia). The wedding starts at 11.15am followed by a lunch reception. I'm wondering if it would be appropriate to wear a pale pink dress with some beading on the bodice??
Many thanks in advance =)
-
ANSWER:
In the US, beading is reserved for evening affairs. Beading during the day (unless you were the bride) would be overdoing it.Another concern is how pale the pink is. If it's so pale that it could be mistaken for a shade of white, it might be better to find something else to wear.

What kind of winter dress is great to wear in 20 degree weather ? With snow and heavy wind?? What in your words or links is the best winter fantasy wedding dress? I'm a size 10 and am 5'7....thanks for the help!-

Brides wear the same dresses whether it's winter in Manitoba or summer in Key West. They wear strapless, matte satin, full length gowns with some side ruching and crystals sprinkled. No bride ever dresses for the weather - that would entail a turtle neck with long sleeves!

I just posted up a question about sandals for a winter wedding a few moments ago and forgot to mention that I will need something to keep my shoulders warm during the ceremony, etc. What would go well with a full length, strapless gown? QUESTION:
winter wedding does anyone have any advice on what kind of wedding dress i should wear?
I'm getting married in winter and I'm still not sure of what kind of wedding dress to wear.-
ANSWER:
Yes you want to have a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve dress, BUT dont be too convinced that it will be absolutely freezing on your wedding day, because you will get screwed by the weather that day if you do. I was married in Dec in NY, I was expecting it to be so cold and had everyone prepared with warm coats and capes everything. Guess what. It was 68 degrees the day I got married and in the 70s the night before for the rehearsal. If you plan for cold, It will defintely be warm. Just be aware of this and dress in layers, they make beautiful strapless dresses with long sleeve bolero jackets over them, so you can take the jacket off at the reception when you tend to get very hot. I would go that route.Good luck!

QUESTION:
Is a tea length bridesmaid dress OK for a winter wedding?
I am planning a wedding for next December. My dress will be a traditional full-length formal wedding gown, but I really like tea length dresses for the bridesmaids. Do tea length dresses seem too "springy" or out of season?
The dress would be a sage color with a champagne belt/bow.The wedding is in the St. Louis area, and it seems as though we've had fairly mild Decembers for the past few years, and the ceremony and reception are both indoors.
Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Absolutely - I'd recommend it - it was more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for my bridal party and we got married during the winter season too... A tea length dress is just fine for any time of year. It's all about what you want - don't let antiquated rules limit the possibilities
Just go for it & be beautiful!
Good luck & congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!

ANSWER:
First of all the venue looks amazing and will be a beautiful background for a beautiful event! I answered a question earlier about a winter-snowflake themed wedding. Even if she isn't into the snowflake thing, there are still many great winter options. I would go with a pale blue, white, and silver for the colors. I would definately go all out with a winter theme. Lots of white lights, silver and mirrored tiles for the base on tables, etc.Cneterpiece/deocration link: The simplicity of this would work with the rustic look of your venue, but still be classy and intriguing for guests. Just make sure to top the sand with glass rocks in silver, blue and clear-to give the illusion of ice.

This would be an amazing gown, and with a shawl to go with it, beautiful:

QUESTION:
what should my baby wear to a formal dress winter wedding?-
ANSWER:
boy or girl?
For a girl, she could wear a pretty dress with stockings, nice mary-jane type shoes and a cardigan.
For a boy, a pair of pants and a cute little shirt.
I don't think people will be too worried about how formal a baby looks though so you don't have to go over the top if they are not comfortable in the clothes. It's better to have them happy and comfortable than to have them crying during the ceremony and having to take them outside!

QUESTION:
Is a little black dress okay to wear to a Winter wedding?
One of my good friends is getting married tomorrow... and I bought a little black dress to wear...it's not that great... It's not that pretty.. I don't like it too much. But I am just wondering if that is what you are supposed to wear to a Winter Wedding? I haven't been to many weddings... The last wedding I went to I wore a really nice shirt and black pants...if that tells you how wedding savvy I am.-
ANSWER:
If you can add colorful accessories to the black dress - i.e. shoes, bag, sweater/cardigan/scarf, etc - then it will be fine. If it's just straight black, then you might want to think about wearing something else. You don't want to look too dark, down, mournful, etc.Mainly at weddings you don't want to draw attention away from the bridal party (especially the bride). So no white or extremely bright colors.

QUESTION:
How short is too short for a winter wedding?
I'm going to my cousin's formal wedding next week and I'm having trouble deciding the length of the type of dress I want to wear. I'm 13 years old. Since it is in the winter, I'm planning to wear black tights underneath. The wedding will be indoors, so climate doesn't matter. However, knee length dresses make me look very weighed down and short. Would a dress that meets halfway of my thigh be too short? What do you think?
I don't want to wear a dress that is either white or black. I'm thinking dark purple, red, or blue.-
ANSWER:
If your tights are opaque, you can get probably away with going a little shorter than you could with sheer or no tights. That said, halfway down your thighs doesn't sound too short. Just make sure you pick a length you feel comfortable sitting in so you don't have to worry about tugging at it all night!

A bracelet, pendant and matching earrings. This was what Princess Diana wore to a similar function at the same venue and it will always be in stylish fashion.

QUESTION:
How do you feel about short (knee-length) bridesmaid dresses for a November wedding?
The wedding is in the middle of November and the bride has chosen a short (knee-length) dress with a flower print on it (white with black flower designs). While I know I am just a bridesmaid and it is not my choice, I am not sure how I feel about wearing such a "springy" dress in a basically "winter" wedding.... Any thoughts?
btw, we live in Ohio and it can be very cold in November.-
ANSWER:
Yeah it doesn't seem logical to have that sort of dress when the weather is so cold. It probably would have been better to pick out address that is floor length. But, it's really the bride's choice so I guess you'll have to just deal with it. She probably dreamed of this days for years and that type of dress might have been part of her "vision". It'll only be for one day so just think warm thoughts. =D

QUESTION:
Short wedding dress in winter?
I'm getting married in august, 2011, which is winter. Our wedding is indoors, (the registry office actually) and we only have 10 guests, so it's not really a formal sort of affair. I have found a wedding dress that falls on the knee, it's beautiful all lace, strapless. I really think it would be lovely with the right shoes and hoisery and a little white bolero/ lace jacket. I really don't want to wear a long dress, I wanted to do something different. Do you think it will work? Hellllp!Oh and the ceremony is 10.30 in the morning and we are doing lunch at a nice restaurant afterward.
Oh btw, I live in Australia! In tropical hot Queensland so it doesn't really get too cold here!-
ANSWER:
Sounds perfectly appropriate. Anyway, I always thought long formal ballgowns in a courthouse or registry office looked a little silly.

QUESTION:
Wedding Colors/Bridesmaid dresses?
My wedding colors are going to be light blue and chocolate brown with white flowers. I am having a winter wedding. My dress is Champagne and Ivory. Should I have my girls pick out light blue or brown bridesmaid dresses? I'm not sure which would look best?
Thanks guy
) I never thought about the flowers clashing! I'll have to rethink that!!-
ANSWER:
Are you sure the white flowers will look okay with your ivory/champagne dress? Honest question -- I am trying to picture it and not sure how it would look. Maybe it would be okay with a lot of greenery?I think chocolate brown would be easier to match -- if I understand correctly and you are having them pick out their own dress in your color -- than light blue. Light blue can go a lot of ways.
Now...let us say you are picking
http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_return_by_color.jsp?cfid=35
a specific color from David`s Bridal and allowing them to pick any style. -- then I really like the icy blue with brown accents.
I love the blue and brown combo a lot! http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_return_by_color.jsp?cfid=38
And I happen to think the peri and latte would be really gorgeous and wintery but with the warmth of the brown and champaghe.
So...if it is light blue especially you have to make sure you do not have a spectrum of close-but-no-cigar blue hues. Brown you might be better but in both cases you should pick a specific shade to be safe.
And I might put some bluish flowers in with the white if it was me or a lot of greenery because as I said I am not sure with white flowers against Ivory.
Have a beautiful wedding and awesome marriage.

QUESTION:
I am thinking about having a winter wedding and want to wear a dress I can wear again to other functions?
I also do not want to go with traditional white since I'm so pale. I'm thinking of using a deep purple. Would this be appropriate? Would that go along with a Christmas wedding theme?-
ANSWER:
You say that you don't want to go with white because you're pale, but honestly pale brides can often pull off wedding gowns the best. That's something to keep in mind. I suggest that if you really want to be able to wear your dress over you go with a shorter dress. Again, you may want to think about whether you really want to do this. Ask yourself if it will still hold the importance it should if you wear it like any other dress. Think about this too.

http://kleinfeldbridal.com/index.cfm?pid=52&item_id=12034&rowid=18&page=1
In the end though, do go with whatever YOU want as it is your day and you should wear what YOU love, not what someone else wants you to wear. Good luck!

QUESTION:
Winter wedding guest dress?
I'm looking for a dress to wear to a wedding in Amsterdam this winter (December 23rd). It's a daytime wedding, but since I don't live there, I'm not sure that I have a chance to change my clothes prior to the dinner and after-party, so it would need to work for all three occasions. The wedding's going to be pretty formal, so I want my dress to go no shorter than knee length, but probably not longer, since I'm not a bridesmaid. Velvet or heavy satin is also what I'm shooting for. Does anyone have specific suggestions for me?-
ANSWER:
For December, trendy Colors for Winter are red, black, white, and dark blue, burgundy, or solid colors. Since its going to be in Winter its best that you wear a dress with a shawl, and the dress be a thick material. Taffeta and satin are best. Strapless and Halter Top dress are most elegant and classy, here are some suggestions from my favorite store:http://www.camdendrive.com/stunning-spaghetti-strap-black-evening-dress-n2116.html
